Malu Trejevo as Alex London.

Ugh. My alarm went off, startling me and I threw myself out of my bed. It was 7:00. I raced to the bathroom and turned on the shower. The water was freezing cold. "Dad!" I shouted. "The water is freezing!"

"What?" my dad said.

"The water is freezing!"

My dad ran upstairs and stood behind the bathroom door. "Alex, back in my day we were lucky to have water to bathe ourselves with. SO DEAL WITH IT!"

I started to laugh and ended up choking on shower water.

After I had finished my very cold shower, I went to my room to get dressed. I wanted to wear something that made me look like a normal 16 year old girl, not the daughter of a wealthy socialite.

I decided on my old adidas hoodie, black leggings and a pair of muddy vans.

I went downstairs and got a cereal bar. "Bye dad!" I shouted. I walked out of the door and began to walk to my new school.

I walked through the hallway, absorbed into my book. Suddenly, I was pushed backwards and fell on my backpack.

"Hey loser," said someone. "Watch where you are going!" I couldn't see who had said those words because my glasses flew off my face. I could hear the whole school laughing.

The bell went, and everybody started to make their way to class. Frantically, I searched for my glasses. I saw a blurry hand in front of me and cautiously grabbed it. I stood up, and someone handed me my glasses.

When I had put them on, I saw who had helped me. It was the prettiest girl I had ever seen.

She had curly black hair, flowing down her back and a pearly white smile. Her skin looked tanned, as if she had spend the whole day relaxing in the sun.

Who was this mystery girl and why did she help me?

I got lost on the way.

I turned into the wrong street. I had to ask six people the directions to my new school.

As soon as I got there, the large amount of butterflies in my stomach increased. The school looked 'normal'. All of my other schools were all posh and fancy, but here I was, at a normal public school.

I walked towards a big brown door and stepped inside. The hallway was filled with jocks, cheerleaders, actors, science and math whizzes, computer programming specialists, it was amazing. At my previous school we only had two social groups: the rich and the richer.

At the top of the hallway, I could see a teenage boy absorbed in a book, standing far away from all of the other students. At once, a tall jock pushed him to the ground and his glasses skidded across the floor and hit my feet.
