Chapter 5 - Food

Jai

I woke up early in the morning with a couple of cards stuck to my face. There was a Guess.Who board on the floor. I picked it up and put it on the table.

I went to the bathroom to have a quick shower.

Alex

I looked at the crowd in front of me. A man said to me, "Guess Who Alex!".

I pointed to a woman with brown hair and glasses. The crowd roared and threw food and rubbish at me.

I ran and ran until I was at the beach. A colony of seagulls appeared and chased after me.

I could hear thunder. Bacon started to rain from the sky and I fell into a hole of darkness.

Jai

I finished my hot shower and entered my old bedroom. I wore my clothes and went to the kitchen.

I grabbed a couple of eggs from the fridge and a packet of bacon. I put them in a pan and got two plates out of the cupboard.

Suddenly, Alex started to twist and turn on the sofa, and was muttering about seagulls. I watched her as she woke up and she stared at me with wide eyes.

"Why did you make it rain?" She shouted.

"Rain what?"

"Bacon!"

I laughed.

"Do you think it's funny?" she said. "How would you feel if you were chased by seagulls, bacon was flying at you and you were swallowed by a black hole?"

"Alex," I said gently. "You had a nightmare."

"Oh."

"Come and eat."

She sat down on a chair and looked at the food on her plate.

"Is it okay?" I asked.

She looked at me and stuffed the egg and bacon into her mouth.

"Alex!"

"What?" she said with her mouth full of food.

She swallowed.

"More please." she said.

"I'm no masterchef, if you want more food, go and cook some!" I said walking off.

"Jai!"

She ran after me.

"When are we going home?" she asked.

"We can go now if you want."

She smiled and grabbed her bag.

We walked along the beach once more looking at the happy families, the children making sun castles, the surfers.

We got into Jai's car and he put in the radio.

"I don't even feel like going home, Jai."
