Chapter 2 - Friendship

Alex

The next day, I woke up bright and early. I walked to the living room and turned on the TV. There were some episodes from Keeping Up With The Kardashians that I had missed.

I watched the show for about 2 hours until I started to get ready for school.

Today I looked in my closet for what to wear. I found my old PUMA sweater and some dark blue leggings.

On the way to school, I got thirsty, and went into Starbucks. I walked into the store and the strong smell of coffee hit me. Hard. I rushed to the queue - I really needed something to help me to not fall asleep in class. I accidentally bumped into a guy who had just got his coffee. "Sorry!" I said.

"It's okay, Alex."

I looked into his eyes. "Jai!" I said. "I didn't recognise you with your beanie."

He laughed.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Needed my morning coffee. But now I have to get another one."

Uh oh.

I looked at the mess on the floor. I didn't realise that I had knocked the coffee out of his hand.

An employee glared at me as he got his mop and cleaned up the mess.

"I am so sorry Jai," I said.

"It's fine Alex," he said. "Do you want a coffee? I can pay."

I stared at him for about five seconds with my most poisonous and deadly glare. I climbed on a nearby chair and stood on the table.

"What?" he said.

"Every time a man and a woman are out the man always offers to pay like all women are broke! I will pay because I am strong. I am a woman and I'm FEARLESS!"

Every one in the coffee shop stared at me. A woman started to clap her hands.
Soon the whole coffee shop was on their feet and clapping for me. I gave the crowd a little curtesy.

I ordered a Frappuccino for me and an Iced Latte for Jai.

We sat down in the corner of the coffee shop. As soon as Jai's butt hit the seat he stated to laugh uncontrollably. "What?" I asked, confused.
"You stood on a table and complained that I was gonna pay for your coffee."
"I read about suffragettes somewhere and I liked it."

Jai was laughing so much that tears were coming out of his eyes.

"Let's go to school then, Miss Suffragette."

I hit Jai hard on the arm.

I walked with Alex from Starbucks to school.

As soon as we entered the school building, I could smell trouble.

The jock who pushed me over - his name is Everett Johnson - came storming up to me today.
