"Tell Lucas I say hello" Maya smirks making me roll my eyes as I place my phone in my clutch.

"He's calming me down."

"Why are you so nervous?" she asks, laughing softly. "We walk across the stage, grab our diplomas and then we're finally done with this place."

My smile returns. Maya wasn't the biggest fan of high school but she tried and she had passed every one of her classes with flying colors and even ended up getting an art internship over the summer before she starts college next fall. "I'm so proud of you Peaches."

"Oh stop" she replies, waving off my dramatics as we're called to attention.

We all line up in alphabetical order and begin our march into the gym causing my nerves to resurface as the many faces surrounding us come into focus. Luckily, there's one in particular that my eyes focus on and having my boyfriend smiling back at me is definitely the confidence booster I needed.

"I see Prince Charming is here" Farkle smirks, a teasing smile on his lips. "He must really love you if he's willing to sit through a boring graduation ceremony."

I smile, nudging my friend with my shoulder. "Then I must be crazy about him too because I'm going down to Texas to watch his."

"Wow." His eyes widen in surprise. "Good for you Riles. I'm happy for you." We share a quick side hug before the ceremony officially begins and then we continuously nudge each other to keep from falling asleep.

Finally, the infinite amount of staff and community speakers are done and it's time for me and Farkle to take the stage.

Like the gentleman that Farkle is, he helps me onto the stage and stays steadily by my side, gathering the notecards we wrote our speech on.

I look into the crowd, really needing that confidence boost again and once more find my boyfriend beaming back at me. "Breathe. You got this" he mouths and a renewed sense of confidence leads me to open my mouth and recite my parts exactly as me and Farkle had written them.

When we're finished we're met with applause that sends me into a state of giddiness and then we're ushered back to our seats where we wait for our diplomas.

Since her name comes before mine in the alphabet, Maya gets her diploma before mine and when her name is called I stand up and cheer along with her family and my uncle in the crowd.

Letters later, it's finally my turn. Shakily, I stand up and somehow make it back to the stage, politely shake my principal's hand and take my diploma.

As I walk back to my seat I turn to look at my family, cheering loudly on the bleachers...my boyfriend at the forefront cheering louder than all of them combined.

"I'm so proud of you" Lucas exclaims, picking me up by the waist and spinning me around. I giggle as he places me back on the ground.

"Thank you" I beam, moving hair out of my face.

"Seriously Riles. So, so proud of you" he repeats ignoring my thanks. I laugh, pressing my hands to his chest.

"You're too sweet" I argue, sliding my hands up to loop around his neck. "Thank you for coming."

"Of course. I wouldn't have missed this for the world" he assures me, nudging my nose with his. "I love you."

"I love you too" I reply, reaching up to kiss him.

"Riley" my dad shouts, interrupting our moment. I groan, pulling away from my boyfriend reluctantly.

"We'll kiss later princess" Lucas assures me, kissing my cheek before ending our embrace.

"That a promise?"

"Most definitely" he winks.
