Imagine waking up one morning after spending the night with her, only to discover that she's hit her head and won't be waking up any time soon.

"Oh, I know about that," Carmen replied, holding her packet tightly.
"You do?"
Carmen nodded. "She messaged it to me while I was in the coma."
"Oh . . ."
"Are we going straight there?"
"Yip." Carmen nodded.
"You want to walk?"
"Yeah. It feels really good being on my legs again."
Mum hugged Carmen then, surprising her by her sudden movement. "You're handling this all so well, Carmen." Carmen could hear the thickness in her mum's voice. Ignoring the stares of the people around her, she wrapped her arm without the packet around her mum.
They stood like that for a few minutes until mum pulled away and wiped her face, smiling at Carmen. She smiled in reply.
