3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . . . . . open!
Why is nothing happening?
A sharp beeping sound echoes into my left ear, wrapping around my brain and drizzling through to my right ear. It leaves a dull throb pulsing through my head.
Black emptiness engulfs my vision. My eyelids are vacuum sealed shut.
"Sammy . . . Sammy please wake up" I hear a distant voice whispering softly, bringing gloom into the atmosphere.
Who's Sammy?
I attempt to pry open my eyelids, but they are heavy and i am weak. The intervals of the beeps quicken. Heavy footsteps thunder into the room, causing the throbbing of my mind to increase.
"James, this is your doctor here, if you can hear me please show me a sign" A blinding light presses against my eyelids. I feel myself cowering from the light.
I feel like i've just woken up from the worst hangover of all time.
I hear the doctor get excited, starting to murmur to his nurse or whoever else is in the room.
Slowly my eyelids start to flutter open one at a time. I see a pair of bright green eyes staring down at me hungrily. Lines crease at the corner of the eyes, which i recognised as a sign of the person smiling down at me.
All at once i am hit with a feeling of overwhelming tiredness, causing the heaviness on my eyelids to fade back with the force of a thousand arms. The beeping starts to become rapid as i find myself slowly drifting further and further into darkness until i am engulfed in the dark emptiness.
