I laughed as I ran past tall trees and bushes in the direction of Haley, my younger sister.
" Bet'cha can't find me!"Her sweet voice was full of excitement that echoed around the eerie bush area.
"Don't go too far"I called softly as I sped up my steps. If anything happened to young Haley, Nonna would have my head.
I could hear her heavy panting up ahead and soon her blonde curls were bouncing into my sight.
I ran up behind her and tackled her to the floor so she landed ontop of me.She squealed in delight and kicked around playfully.I could have never asked for a better sister than Haley.
She rolled off of me and onto the grass with her chest heaving. THUD THUD SNAP.
POP. Screams echoed throughout the area followed by yelling. Haley clutched onto my arm in terror.
"Shhh"I whispered as I dragged her over to the bush.
I gripped her shoulders firmly and gazed Into her eyes. "I want you to stay here.I will be back but just DON'T move from this spot.I need to go see what's happening"I pressed my lips against forehead as she sniffled and sat down.
I heard her whisper 'I love you sissy' before I had bolted off to were our tents stood tall.
