The Announcement

You wake up in Lucy’s spare room and look at your texts. You have four new messages, one is from Benedict: I am sorry love xxx

The other three are from Amanda: Hi, Martin is going to see Ben to cheer him up x

Martin said that Ben is completely wasted x

Okay, I don’t mean to alarm you but Martin has taken Ben to hospital, something about a broken arm or something. Lots of love x

You get up quickly and throw some clothes on, you do not bother with makeup or doing your hair so you just put your hair in a messy bun and leave Lucy’s.

When you arrive at your apartment, Amanda and Martin were just leaving. They all turn to you as you walk in apart from Benedict. Martin passes you a bottle of pills, “He has already had two. He is allowed two at lunch and two at dinner. They make him a bit out of it and he has a hangover. Just please look after him?” Martin seems concerned so you nod and shut the door behind them when they leave. You turn to look at Benedict; he is sitting at the kitchen table his head in his right hand. You walk up to him to study the support on his wrist, ‘wrist not arm’ you think to yourself and support it in your hands. He lets you but doesn’t respond. “It is lucky you have good friends like them.” You pick up his wrist and he flinches but you bend down to ‘kiss it better’. “What got into you last night Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch?” He likes it when you say his full name because although it sounds like “a fart in the bath” according to him, he likes the way you say it.

“I thought…you didn’t trust me, I wouldn’t cheat on you, because I love you too much.” He is probably the only man on earth who could speak still fluently with a hangover. “I love you Mr Cumberbatch.” You say giving him a hug from behind. He grins and replies, “I love you too Mrs Cumberbatch.”

Benedict’s POV

We are starting filming for series four of Sherlock today. It is nice to be back on set and my wrist is okay enough to film without the support. We went yesterday to get a scan of the baby, doesn’t look like much yet but knowing that I am going to be a father is the best feeling ever. It is also nice having Andrew (Scott) back on set. It was odd filming a series without him and yes he did appear in a few bits but that wasn’t a lot of filming time. Only Amanda and Martin know about the baby and they have promised that they won’t tell anyone but y/n is dropping by at the end of the day and we have agreed to tell these guys then.

Y/n POV

You put on your makeup before leaving the apartment to join Benedict on set. They are filming in 221b Baker Street today (well the studio which the set is in) so you thought it is the perfect time to tell his friends without any fangirls there. You haven’t seen them in a while apart from Amanda and Martin, they all attended your wedding but you haven’t seen most of them since.

You park the car and are greeted by Amanda who is waiting for you, “Ben and Martin are just finishing a scene but you are allowed to come and watch if you want?” Amanda asks. You nod and follow her through the corridors leading to the studio. There are many crew members rushing about with cables, scripts and makeup brushes. It is like a military operation!

The director yells “CUT!” and Benedict rushes to you with a big grin on his face, “He has been smiling like that all day.” Amanda whispers into your ear. You see his support for his wrist on the side so you grab it and start to tighten it to his wrist. He kisses you which are met by a few “ooohs” and “awwws” from the other actors. Most of them are here because there is a production meeting dinner after filming.

“Can I please get your attention please?!” Benedict begins, ‘this is it’ you think as he looks back at you and holds your hand. “My wife and I have an announcement to make.” Everyone looks at you two and Benedict is lost for words like he has stage fright. This makes you smirk under your breath and you decide to continue for him. “What Ben is trying to say, he is going to be a dad.” The cast and crew look excitable and applaud this before rushing up to you and Ben. You hear about a million congratulations before you go out for dinner.

After dinner you phone begins to ring, “Hello?” you say to the other person on the end. “Mrs Cumberbatch? Your friend Lucy Gillain is in hospital, it says here in her notes that you are the one to call.”

“Oh my god, is she okay?!” You almost yell down the receiver.

“Miss Gillain has been in a car accident, she is in coma.” The doctor continues.
