Unable to React

You run out of the apartment block and jump straight into your car to drive away quickly. ‘I cannot believe I told him!’ you think as you drive away. You drive to the centre of London and decide to stop at a café for lunch. You park and are about to walk into the café when you bump into Martin (Freeman) and Amanda (Abbington). You have met them a few times and they went to your wedding. They are great friends of a Ben’s. “Hey y/n. How are you?” Amanda asks. Whenever they come round to your apartment for dinner you get along with Amanda really well. You smile weakly and you can see her huge grin turn into a concerned look. You look over at Martin who also has this exact same expression. “Ummm…yeah, I am fine. How are you?” You reply. You really don’t want to talk to anyone especially someone who has a close connection with Benedict.

“We are very well. We are just heading out for some lunch. Is Benny not with you?” Martin asks, he calls him Benny sometimes, you don’t know why. You shake your head, your eyes begin to water but you decide that you cannot cry in front of these two prestigious celebrities. Their facial expression changes again like they know what is going on but of course they don’t. “Sorry Martin and Amanda, I have things to do so we can talk another time.” You forget lunch and hop back into your car to drive to Lucy’s house.

Benedict’s POV

She is pregnant?!  I pick up my phone to ring her but I hear the phone ringing still in the apartment. She has left it here. I don’t know where she has gone and I have no way to contact her. I was so hard on her and I care about her too much to cheat on her.

Bang, bang, bang

Someone is at the door, maybe it is her, and maybe she has left her key. I open the door to see Martin and Amanda standing in the doorway. “Sorry guys, not in the mood to talk right now.” I say. Martin has his ‘I know but I am going to persist anyway’ face on so I move aside to let them in. “Ben, what is wrong with y/n?” Amanda asks.

“How do you know about that?” They explain that they saw y/n upset in town and that she rushed off. I asked whether they knew where she went but they hadn’t a clue. “I don’t know where she is, she has left her phone so there is no way of contacting her. Maybe I was too harsh but I cannot believe she doesn’t trust me! I need her and my baby to be safe.” Martin almost spits out his drink at the “baby” part. “Yes Martin, I am going to be a dad…” I grin at this; I cannot wait to have a child of my own.

Y/n POV

You fumble in your pocket for the key and open the door to your apartment. You are surprised to see Martin and Amanda there, ‘they were probably worried’ you think as you walk to the bedroom. “Y/n what are you doing?” Benedict asks you. You do not look at him but stare straight at the floor when you answer, “I am staying at Lucy’s tonight.” You can hear him sigh like he is about to say something but stops. You walk to your bedroom and pull the suitcase out from underneath your bed and start to open drawers to get stuff to pack your bag. You hear the door open and turn to see Amanda in the doorway. “Martin and I are just leaving but congrats…on the baby I mean.” You cannot take it anymore and you break down, sobbing whilst falling to the floor. Amanda sits next to you and hugs you, “It’ll be alright y/n, all couples argue sometime.” You shake your head at this, you know everyone argues sometime but this is different. “But I felt scared Amanda, which is not arguing.”

“Benedict would never hurt you hun, he was just angry that you would ever think that he would cheat on you. He loves you and this baby. He said so.” Amanda pats you on the arm and leaves. You finish packing you suitcase and head for the front door.

“Y/n wait!” Benedict rushes up to you. You can see in his face that he knows there is no stopping you from leaving. He holds out your phone and you take it and leave.
