"all the crossed wires,

just making us tired,

is it too late to bring us back to life?"

~

Luke stares out into the night sky, leaning against the balcony rail, thinking to himself again; what has he done? He's ruined things now, for sure.

"It isn't healthy for you to be left to your own thoughts so often." His head spins around and Luke smiles softly at the sight of Calum; his best friend.

Cal walks up and claps a hand on Luke's shoulder. He's noticed how glum his mate's been lately, due to Jess; although he's on Jess' side, Calum will be there for Luke.

"You wanna talk about it? It's good to get things out there sometimes, ya know?" Luke nods at his friends comment and sighs loudly.

"It's just... exhausting. We've been fighting alot lately, even before I told her; which is probably my fault because I felt so guilty," Luke admits; he constantly tried to start fights with Jess, to make her upset so that maybe she would leave and he wouldn't have to hurt her by telling her what happened, but she was too nice and kept coming back.

Calum nods in understanding, watching the stars gleam in the sky and listening to the soothing sound of the beach waves rolling into the shore; peaceful.

"All the crossed wires are just making us tired," Luke sighs loudly, ducking his head in shame, "Cal... is it too late to bring us back to life? I-I mean... can I save the relationship? Or are we gone already."

"I don't know, man." Calum admits, shrugging as he meets his friends eye, "You just gotta try your hardest. If you love her and it's meant to be then you'll find your way back to eachother."

"Thanks." Luke smiles and Calum claps his shoulder once more before walking back inside, leaving Luke to his own thoughts once again.

And Calum was right; it isn't healthy to be left with your own thoughts so often.
