Dan's P.O.V

Standing before my eyes is the most beautiful young man I've ever laid eyes upon.

He sits across from me at a table with two chairs, and he's sitting alone.

Well obviously he can't be single, he's so beautiful. Just because he isn't sitting with anyone doesn't mean he's not taken...

Even so, I feel myself quickening my pace, striding towards his table. What the hell am I doing? I can't even think straight.

I'm carrying a cappuccino in one hand and a muffin in the other. It's going to spill all over me if I don't slow down.

I've ever felt so drawn to anyone in my life. I can feel the draw, it's pulling me towards him.

He's already noticed me, staring at me with shy hazel eyes.

Why is he shy of me?

I've only fallen in love once. Her name was Anna. She was so kind to me, so caring. I would sing my songs to her every day though she would simply say how the lyric-words meant so much to her, though she didn't love me. I couldn't bring myself to tell her I loved her, despite the fact that she admitted she didn't have those feelings for me, and she moved away without warning and I haven't seen her since.

That's when I decided to write the lyrics to my song Irreverence.

This time I know I've fallen in love at first sight. With a man? I always knew I was slightly different from everyone else, at school, at university. But it never really occurred to me that I could be... umm...

Gay.

"Hey" I smile shyly at the young man staring at me. God, I'm so awkward.

"Hey, do I know you?" He answers, not in a menacing way, because his angelic voice bounces from his lips. He is stunning. His hair is carefully groomed back, his hazel eyes gleaming at me. It looks like he may be growing a moustache, bless.

"Uh.. I.. I'm not sure. I just, uh.. Wanted t-to see, ugh..." I stuttered. I'm so socially awkward I wish the ground would open up and swallow me. I'm so stupid for coming over to him.

"I think I might know you from somewhere..." The young man smirks. "I'm Kyle Simmons, nice to meet you!" He shakes my hand with a firm grasp. "And your name is...?"

"My name's Dan Smith." I'm calming down now. "What do you mean, you know me from somewhere?"

Kyle grins. Oh, how dazzling his smile is. He knows me?! Oh crap, has he seen our band performing in the local London pubs?

"Here, have a seat." He politely offers.

I sit down tentatively as he questions me;

"Did you go to Leeds University by any chance?" He is grinning wildly.

"Yeah I did actually" I blush. "Did you?"

"Yup, I'm 23, I studied music theory, I saw you around sometimes but seeing as I was in the year below I guess I didn't really have a chance to make conversation with you..." He's blushing, oh my god. Is he blushing about me? Me, an awkward messy haired pessimistic guy?

"You studied music theory? I studied English literature... So, what music are you into? Do you play any instruments?" I am really hoping there's a chance he could join the band. I think I'm asking too many questions.

"I'm into all ranges of music really. Oh by the way, I've seen you perform in the local pubs a few times... god, your voice is awesome. I like the band you've set up! And I play keyboard mostly. I sometimes play a bit of bass... But I have to concentrate so hard playing bass that I sometimes forget to breathe!" He laughed smoothly. "Some of my mates from Uni are friends with you, so I guess fate brought us together"

HE PLAYS KEYBOARD. And he says my voice is great (it's kind of embarrassing that he's seen me in local pubs!)

I guess you can figure out what I'm going to ask him next.

"So Kyle, do you wanna join my band by any chance?"
