After I was shot, I fell back into a dream, not something comforting though... the first thing I saw was a star, in the distance, but as I focused on it something began to eclipse it, making everything go dark. A few moments later, my vision filled with a bright green light that shot towards me. The light kept intensifying until it was nothing but bright white, then when it faded, I found myself on Lothal.
Something was wrong, however. The cities lights were out, and it looked as though it had been attacked. There was smoke pluming up from a few of the buildings, and the main Imperial factory in the centre looked completely wrecked. I looked across the landscape to see countless X-Wings, Y-Wings and A-Wings scattered across the grassy fields of the planet.
I took a step forward, but I felt my foot hit something on the ground. Looking down, I saw Kanans face, it was dirty, scratched and had been cracked on the top right hand corner. The mask began to crumble in my hands. I looked up again, but this time I was on a different battlefield, in the middle of the city on Lothal, where I saw countless bodies of other Rebel and Imperial soldiers.
As I walked through field of bodies I came towards a wreckage, a ship familiar to me. The Ghost, and in front of the ship there were four dead bodies, and one broken Astro-mech. I picked up my pace as I ran towards them, the first body I came to was Zeb. His eyes were still open, lifeless, his face lifeless, his body littered with blaster marks.
The second was Hera, her body was scorched from the crash, and one of her Lekku head tails had been sliced clean off, then I saw Sabine, she still held the Darksaber in her hand. Her hair had gone back to its natural brown colour, but her face was left in horror as her eyes were wide open. Then it came to Kanan, his body was different. Intead of blaster marks piercing his skin, there was a large diagonal slash across his chest. His lightsaber was only a couple of inches from his hand, so I went to pick it up.
Before I could however, I heard a dreadful sound from behind me. One I had heard before, and one I had no desire to here ever again. A slow, robotic breath. I turned my head slowly, to see him standing there. Darth Vader, tall and dignified. He began to advance towards me, so I force pulled the Darksaber and Kanans Lightsaber to my hands and ignited them.
Vader's lightsaber hummed menacingly as he advanced toward me. He raised his saber to strike down, so I held both mine up in a cross to block it. He was strong, extremely strong. I could feel my muscles straining as he forced down on me. Eventually, with all of my strength, I pushed up, making him stumble backwards. I threw myself towards him, striking with both sabers diagonally.
Vader blocked with ease, and I went flying backwards. He was too strong, both my lightsabers were knocked from my hands, and I was powerless. He walked up to me and raised his lightsaber, but before he delivered the final blow, he spoke. "You killed this rebellion."
But just before his lightsaber sliced through my skin, I jerked awake. My body covered in cold sweat. A shark gasp escaped my mouth as I sat up. Once I had calmed down, I observed my surroundings, and immediately I recognised where I was. My room on the Ghost, but I was on the bottom bunk instead of the top, and standing in front of the closed door was Sabine.
I lied back down, sighing as I hit the mattress. "Y'know I don't appreciate being shot in the middle of a swamp." Sabine shifted her weight from leaning against the door frame to standing upright. "And I don't appreciate being slammed into a tree by my best friend." Ezra closed his eyes before speaking again, "I'm sorry Sabine, but lately I've been going through some... personal stuff.""There's nothing personal about it Ezra, I saw you with that crystal, the dark side is calling to you, and you can't hide it." Ezra sat back up, "you don't know anything of the Force Sabine, so keep out of it."
She put on an expression that said she couldn't believe what I was saying. "You think I enjoy sitting up at night listening to your screams? Do you know how much it pains me to see what you've been twisted into?"
Ezra jolted up from the bed and advanced towards me until he was right in front of me, his breath brushing off my face. "You are a Mandalorian Sabine, all you know is war and destruction. You don't get to stand there and lecture me about what I've become." His voice low and calm, yet there was an underlining rage to it. He turned his back to me, "if any of you really cared Kanan would have done something by now anyway."
This time he sounded lifeless, as if he was hollow inside. "Of course we care, Ezra! But the rest are worried that it's too late."
There was silence for a few moments before he spoke up again, "do you?" I raised an eyebrow, "do I what?"
"Do you believe it's too late for me?" I stood there in silence as he walked back towards me, but he kept a fair distance between the two of us. "Of course not. I know there's still good in you, I know you can stop this I can feel it, you still have time-"
Suddenly, he put his arm round my waist, pulled me towards him and did the most unexpected thing: he kissed me. At first I tried to fight it, but soon Everything, all the words that were exchanged between us didn't mean anything. The world faded out and we were standing on our own little island. His lips were soft like velvet, but my heart burst when he brushed my cheek with his thumb, and when he pulled away, I was left there with my eyes still closed, wondering why he had stopped.
I looked up at him, his eyes were sorrow, and he had a grave expression on his face. "Ezra..."
"I'm sorry, Sabine," and suddenly, without warning, all conscience began to leave my body, and soon I was falling to the floor while I slipped into darkness.I caught her just before she hit the ground, and gently laid her down on the bed, her face still and her body unmoving. She looked like she was in complete harmony with herself, and that was the same harmony that I had to try and find. I carefully reached for the drawer under the bed, pulled it out and took the Inquisitors lightsaber that was sat inside
it.
After that I took the two Kyber Crystals and my old green lightsaber that were lying on the table. I hooked the saber to my belt and put the crystals back in my pocket. I could feel the light and dark in each of them rebound against one another, which made me feel uneasy.
I opened the door to my room but before I left I took one last look at her, as it was possibly the last I would see of her for a very, very long time.
Then I walked out, closed the door and left the Ghost to go find an X-Wing.
