I went back to my room after the whole scene with Maxon and his father. It was abuse he was going through!
I had to sit down and start writing my speech for the ball... which is in 5 hours... oh no!
It's supposed to be about how my time at the castle as changed my view of Illèa today.
Hello everyone! being at the castle has changed my view a lot about the state that our beautiful country is at today. Now, being a five, I didn't think that our government was doing enough to help the starving people that I saw every day. Now I realize that our government is the main reason why you and I are standing here today. Without them, all of us would be in the streets. I believe that our country is doing everything and will continue to do everything possible to make our country better....
It was a start and I figured that I would just finish it later if I had to.I didn't want it to be too long because a lot of other girls would probably be saying the same things and I didn't want to reiterate them too much.
I looked at the clock. It was five minutes to lunch time and I still hadn't cleaned my wound yet. It wasn't really bleeding anymore, but it stung a lot.
Because it was a Saturday, I got to wear jeans and I threw a sweater over my shirt so that no one would notice the bandages. I hope they don't think its weird that I changed from a stunning dress to jeans and then back to an even prettier dress for dinner and the ball.
I walked into the dining hall and everyone was already there except for the royal family. I took my seat and waited patiently for them to show up.
Kris's playfully reached across the table and slapped my forearm. "Oh my goodness! You will not believe what heard the guards talking about today!"
I pulled my arm back and tried not to let a cry escape my mouth.
"Oh my gosh! Did I hurt you? What's wrong?" she asked with fake concern filing her eyes.
"Oh no it's fine. I just... fell and... got a bruise." I lied.
She shot me a suspicious look, but then the royal family came in.
We stood up and curtsied all in unison.
"Sit down ladies and enjoy the meal" Maxon said.
We sat down and ate our lunch. I looked up and saw the pain in Maxon's eyes as he still tried to conceal it.
He looked up at me and tugged his ear. I did the same.

My maids did my hair and makeup for the ball in only three hours. Of course we had to all eat dinner first and make last minute preparations, so we were rushing.
My maids put me in a beautiful teal ball gown. It was sleeveless had crystals all throughout. As Mary was curling my hair, I felt eyes staring at me and Lucy let out a soft giggle.
I turned to see Maxon staring at me with wondrous eyes.
"Darling, you look beautiful."
I blushed.
I loved it when he said those things to me. It made me feel like someone really cared for me, and I know he really did. He never stops telling me!
"Do you like it?" I asked, smiling from ear to eat as I twirled.
"I love it. I love you." Maxon embraced me. It felt so natural being in his arms. It was where I was meant to be.
He kissed my forehead "I will see you soon, love," and he left.
