"Pardon?" I asked, "test?" I echoed, Luke, Alpha Luke, grinned at me
"Yes you passed the test we'd set up to make sure I was right" he said casually, "and you really don't need to refer to me as Alpha Luke, as I introduced myself earlier, it's just Luke" he reminded me, I flushed red as I realised he'd been in my head again,
"Ok then, just Luke, do you want me to run a border patrol? I've done it before and my wolf just wants to run, maybe if she had a purpose," I bit my lip as he frowned for a moment,
"Take a warrior with you, something isn't right and I don't think my uncle is going to leave it at just this, he isn't one to back down from a fight" he paused for a moment, "actually he's a slimy bastard who'd do anything to save himself, but I don't think he'll give up the pack this easily " I nodded,
"Sure, I'll be careful" I stood up from the chair and began to walk out, you can continue your mothers meeting now I smiled as I heard several choaking noises, beat that. "Hey Jake" I called out to one of the older pack warriors, "do you mind running the border with me, my wolf's restless and Luke's okayed it?" I said quickly, he frowned for a moment, probably asking Luke if it was ok,
"No, not at all Luna" he said and followed me outside,
"You know you don't need to call me Luna, I'm just Iona" I giggled as I realised how similar that sounded to Luke,
[Now you know what I mean] Luke's voice whispered through my brain,
"But Luna, it's only proper" Jake complained, "it show's the honour in the title" he continued,
"But i'm just like you," he looked at me, "ok, so I'm not a trained warrior, but I have to protect and care for the pack as well, I'm a go-to-gal for problems and I haven't even proven myself yet, so how about I make you a deal, you can call me Luna, when I've proven to you and the pack that I'm worthy of the title" I explained, he thought it over for a moment, then nodded,
"I'll agree to that" he said and began stip his clothing off, I looked away after I saw his tribal warrior marks (tattoos)and began to do the same, I folded my clothes up neatly and rolled my shoulders. I let my wolf take over. We shook our large head, and looked over to Jake, he was a light grey wolf, you could almost call it silver,
[Come on, I'll race to you the east border] I called,
[You're on] he called and started sprinting, laughing,
[Hey no fair] I called and started running after him, I knew I couldn't beat him now, he was a fully trained warrior for god's sake, I was panting heavily as I reached the border, he was grinning at me, [you cheated] I pouted,
[You really are unfit] he told me,
[Great, that's what every girl wants to hear] I teased, he grinned,
[Ready to run the line?] he asked, [we don't need to run especially fast, it's better is we don't] he said, looking at me warily,
[Dude, I've done it before, I'm not gonna die on you] I said, my wolf was begining to get a little irratated but I knew it was just talk, but is it, you're weak, you shouldn't be luna I shook my head against the negative thoughts, I wouldn't listen to tham right now. I began to run the border, revelling in the feeling of wind through my fur, I stretched my senses to tell me of any danger, we ran quickly in silence, both letting our senses work. We rounded onto the north border. Something. My wolf wasn't happy, something is on our territory she snarled, it could be anything, it could be human I tried to placate her. I looked over at Jake, a silent snarl was etched on his wolf's face,
[We need to check this out, but we should probably call for back-up] he told me, I ducked my head in understanding,
[Do you think I should call Luke, or just a couple of warriors?] I asked not entirely sure on protocol. Something barrelled into Jake's side. Rogue, my wolf snarled, a vial smell overloaded my senses,
[Call them] screamed Jake in my head, [run] he pain filled voice filled my head. Something snapped inside me again, he is ours, and they shouldn't harm what is ours said a solid voice of my wolf, I was panicking inside,
[Luke, rogues inside north border] I shouted across the pack link,
[Iona, get out of here!] shouted Jake, [I can hold them off for a bit] he screamed,
[No] my wolf said determindly before leaping into the fray surrounding Jake, a red haze once again settled across my vision as we fought, we wouldn't let them get to the pack. Something ripped across my side, causing me to howl in pain, another howl responed; Luke. The rogues skittered away in shock of the powerful howl, the five looked at each other, somehow communicating before running off. I howled once again before turning to Jake, blood leaked from several cuts and bite marks, I nusseled him softly,
"Iona, we've got him" said a soft voice above us, I snarled, nobody will hurt him. "No, nobody here is going to hurt him" said Luke, I edged away slowly, a hand touched my flank. I turned and snapped at the hand, a squark of surprise emmited from the person,
"Ok, I guess I deserved that" said Matt, my legs gave way under me. I looke around in shock, was I hurt?
"Yes, you have a large tear across you flank" said Luke, "you're not going to be able to run all the way back to the pack house, someone has to carry you" he informed, I snorted in discontentment but inclined my head towards Matt,
[I won't snap at you this time] I promised him, he lifted me up and put my front paws over his shoulder, a bit like a firemen's lift, I looked behind him as he began to walk back to the pack house, a couple of the wolves peeled off and began to finish the border run we'd started,
[Iona, I need to know what happened] Luke's gentle tones filled my head, I sighed,
[We were running the border, like we normally would, senses stretched and all so we could find any breaches or danger, then something wasn't right, I'm not entirley sure, but something didn't sit right with my wolf] I explained, [Jake also felt this, then my wolf told me that something was in our, I mean your territory] I ammended, [we went to check it out as we debated who to contact, then something came out at Jake, it was a blur] I said sadly, [and then I smelt it. Rogues. Jake told me to contact you and run, I linked to you and then joined in] I told him matter of factly,
[You mean after a fully trained warrior told you to 'get your ass out of there. You didn't] Luke said,
[Yeah, basically, anyway, something slashed my side, I howled, you howled, the five of them backed away, looked at each over, then ran off] I finished quickly as we arrived back at the pack house. I was deposited on one of the medical room's bed's,
"Shift." Commanded Luke, I did as my Alpha commanded, I stretched, and looked down at my hip where the tear would be. I stared at it amazed, it was almost healed, "the aid of the pack" commented Luke, he threw me another tshirt, "this seems to be turning into a regular occurence" he said, "there's something else isn't there" he said looking at me with a tilted head, I nodded,
"I felt, the previous Alpha, only for a second, but I could of swore it was him" I said softly,
"Where is she?" shouted a voice outside the room,
"Sir, I don't think" the doctor's voice was cut off by the slamming open of the door. Eli's arms engulfed me,
"Don't ever do that to me again" he told me sternly, I frowned, do what?
