Chapter 2

That night after I got home from soccer, I inhaled my dinner and ran upstairs. I grabbed my phone and thoughts ran through my head. What if Katie finds out that I like hayes? should I tell her? what would she think? I still couldn't believe that he waved to me that day. I was scrolling through my contacts and found Katie. just as I was going to ask for hayes's number, the doorbell rang. who could be at my house at 8:00 I wondered?

I ran down stairs and kevin was already about to answer the door. "Wait! who is it?" I asked. "some kid with brown hair carrying your penny board", kevin replied. I ran upstairs, brushed my hair, and threw on a hoodie. I opened the door. My heart stopped. It was hayes.

"Hi hayes, umm what's up?" I said as i could feel my hands tense up. I was very nervous. "hey, I was at the park and I found your penny board." hayes said. I just remembered that I left it there at soccer practice. "Oh, thanks for finding it! but how did you know it was mine?" I asked. "I looked on the bottom and it says Christi Johnson. these things are expensive and I wouldn't want you to have it stolen." he said nicely. Wow... he actually knows my name. but how does he know where I live? "Well I'm going go since my mom is probably wondering where I am. see ya!" and he left. "Bye!" I said as I shut the door. Me and hayes actually carried on a conversation. I couldn't wait to tell Katie!

The next day, I was so excited! hayes grier came to MY house! As I was walking to school, I heard a voice in the distance. "hey!" Katie yelled. "Oh hey! I need to tell you something!" I replied. "ok.. like what?" "well yesterday after practice, hayes came over and gave me my penny board that I left at the park! I was so surprised that he came and actually returned it!" I said. Katie didn't have any reaction. I was about to say something but she sprinted away.

Later that day, Katie came up to me and said "hey, sorry about earlier but I guess I was feeling... never mind." "what?" I asked. "Well it seems that hayes likes you and I guess I was feeling jealous" "oh... well I highly doubt he likes ME." I replied. but what if hayes actually DID like me? it's hard to believe but anything is possible.
