Thalia's POV

We both studied the kid as he limped to an empty seat in the back of the bus. We looked at each other and nodded, coming to a silent agreement. The bus started to pull over until it came to a stop. The bus driver started to yell at some kid and we took that as our opportunity. We super quickly made it to the new kids seat with no problems. Okay, that's a small lie. Maybe a big lie. You know what? You decide.

I went to get out my seat and was in the bus lane when Jason stepped on the back of my sneaker. I tripped and my leg flew up to balance myself and I kicked Jason in the stomach. He double over and ended up head butting me forward so that I stumbled and slammed my face into a bus seat. Jason laughed and I pinched his ear, turning his laughter into a whimper. I dragged him to the back of the bus where the kid waited with an eyebrow raised and his arms crossed, as if he were expected us. We sat down in an empty seat across from him. "You're late." He said casually.

"Sorry, I was to busy trying to detach my face from a bus seat." I responded, rolling my eyes. He simply raised he eyebrow again.

"You what?" He asked. I noticed his lip was busted open and he had some cuts on his forehead.

"What happened to you?" I asked, ignoring the question.

"Car accident." He lied. I can tell when people are lying, it's like a gift.

"You're lying." I told him. I felt the bus start to move again.

"No I'm not." He replied casually. TO casually.

"How long have you been lying to people?" I asked. I saw Jason giving me a warning look but ignored it. I tend to ignore a lot of things.

"I'm not lying." He said, sounding frustrated.

"You are. I can tell. It's like a gift from the heavenly above." I told him, crossing my arms.

         He snorted. "Heavenly above? Sure."

"What do you belief in then?" I asked.

"Nothing." He said, looking me in the eye. "If 'The Heavenly Above' existed, I wouldn't have such an awful life. My mom wouldn't have died in a car crash and I wouldn't be stuck with my step dad." Man he was good at lying. So good I faltered for a second.

"You've been lying for a while." I commented. He scowled at me.

"You've been detecting them for too long." He growled right back.

"So you were lying?" I asked, eyebrow raised. He groaned.

"Yes, I was lying. But I'm not telling you anything about me." He said, turning so he was looking out the window. "I know all about everyone, yet no one ever knows about me." He muttered.

"People at this school? But you've never been here before?" I questioned. He rolled his eyes at me as if I were the stupidest person alive.

"I've been going to this school since kindergarten. It's just no one notices me, not even the teachers. The only person who did was my mom and she's freakin dead." He growled, then turned to face me. "So Jason go hand out with your jock friends and Thalia go hand out with your mob of friends and forgot you met me. It's what everyone does. You've done it before." He turned away and looked out the window again. I can't explain how bad I felt. Then it clicked.

Jason and I looked at each other with wide eyes. "Holy..." We whispered in unison.

"Percy?" I asked cautiously, turning to look at him. He scowled at us.
