In a desolate town, one dreary night in April there was a boy in his room gazing out of his bedroom window trying to block out the sounds of his parents below.
It was raining outside, not heavy enough to call it a storm but not light enough to call it a drizzle either. His mind was filled of thoughts of being free, away from his life, happier than he had ever been.
"You don't give a damn about anything!" His mother screamed from downstairs.
"Not like you're much better!" Came his father's reply. "When was the last time you even thought about anyone other than yourself?"
"You know very well I care about this family! Especially Abby and Chase!"
Chase tried to ignore his parents screams once again, and stared out the window trying to think of everything beautiful in life.
The rain finally passed, and in came a beautiful orange sunset. The sunset was Chase's favorite part of the day. It was so different than his life; it was vibrant and alive.
Chase decided to go downstairs and get something to eat. His parents had gone their separate ways, and the house seemed silent despite the four bodies inside.
After his meal, Chase headed back up to his room. His mom came in shortly after. She leaned over Chase and whispered, "It'll be okay, we're just having some problems. Remember, your father and I love you and your sister. We're having a rough patch."
Chase nodded as she kissed his head and then walked out and closed the door behind her.
