After walking and walking, Abby and Chase finally found their way back onto the trail. A sign read '2 miles to go.'

"Well, that's not too bad, considering how lost we were," Abby tried to sound hopeful.

"Yeah, maybe once we get back to our cabin Mom and Dad will already be there..." Chase wasn't sure.

After two miles, they got to the trail head. They could see the campsites! They could see the cabins! Abby and Chase were overjoyed. They arrived at their cabin but realized they didn't have the key. They decided to go next door to see if they could borrow a phone. Abby knocked on the door. A middle-aged man opened it.

"Hello kids, how can I help you?" The man asked.

"Our family went on a hike, but we got lost. My brother and I found our way back here, but my parents haven't gotten back yet. Could we please you your phone?"

"Absolutely! Let me go get it for you!" The man walked inside.

"Just enter their phone number," he explained.

Abby took the phone and dialed their Mom's cell phone number. It rang and rang. Meanwhile, their parents were still in the forest.

"John, we've been out here for hours! We have to get back soon!" Their mother was nearly hysterical.

"My phone, I feel it vibrating. I forgot I had it! I hope it's the kids. I can't believe they just went off like that! I'm so worried!"

"Oh no! I lost my connection! How are we ever getting out of here?" She exclaimed worried.

Abby turned back disappointed.

"They didn't answer," she said, disappointed.

They called the front office of the park, and asked for their cabin to be opened, after they explained their situation. They walked inside, by this time it was night. The sun was almost set. Both Abby and Chase worried about their parents, neither able to sleep.

Eventually Chase and Abby fell into a restless sleep, filled with tossing and turning.

The next morning they awoke to a park ranger knocking on the door. Abby opened it, and let him in.

"Kids, Mr. Paige from next door just notified me of your situation. I have people out searching for your parents, don't worry everything will be okay."

"Thank you, sir. I hope you find our parents soon," Chase replied.

"Don't worry we will, the land around here isn't that big, we'll get them back to you soon. In the meantime, you should get something to eat."

"We will, thanks again for helping us," Abby told him while closing the door.

For the first time in months, Chase worried about his parents. Even though they fought a lot, they were still family. He wouldn't feel settled until they got back.
