"John, let's find a shelter. We're obviously not getting anywhere soon, and it's late."
"Fine," Chase's dad grumbled.
They fell asleep underneath a tall pine tree just a few short minutes later. Chase's dad took first watch for any signs of life. He woke up Chase's mom around 1 in the morning. While he slept, Chase's mom noticed some movement in the nearby trees and bushes. Worried it may be a bear, she woke up John.
"Honey, what time is it? Why did you wake me?"
"Shh I heard some noises I want you to check it out. Also, it's 4 am, the sun should come up soon," she replied
He walked over where the sounds were coming from with a stick, poking around. A rabbit hopped out chewing on some grass.
"Oh good, it was just a bunny," said Chase's mom, relieved.
Suddenly, they heard someone yelling from off in the distance.
It was a bit unclear but they could hear "Mr. and Mrs. Jones!!!"
"They came for us! The kids must have notified the park rangers that we were out here!" Mrs. Jones said excitedly.
"WE ARE OVER HERE! CAN YOU HEAR US?" They tried shouting.
"YES, WE CAN HEAR YOU. STAY RIGHT THERE!" Came the reply.
Once they were safely back in their cabin, Abby and Chase ran over to hug them.
"Mom, Dad we were so worried! I'm glad you're safe!" Abby exclaimed.
The family happily sat down around the table, and began talking. Chase's mind began to wander, and he suddenly remembered the creature in Xenaria.
The bird-like creature continued to wander around searching for its eggs. They had been stolen from a huge purple animal that was the enemy of the bird. It had scattered the eggs all over the rich blue planet, Xenaria.
The evil mauve beast had hidden all of the eggs in the near by country of Yameon on the east side. As the bird wandered around, he wondered why he was searching. He thought to himself, the eggs will be safe, they'll hatch. Still, he didn't stop looking. He knew if he didn't keep searching, his eggs could be in danger, and since his species was going extinct it was vital that he made sure the eggs were safe. With that in mind, he set off once more, at a fast pace, trying to reach Yameon.
Chase sat up and thought about the bird. Would his parents look for him like that? He wasn't so sure. They always seemed to be wrapped up in their own disputes. Well, he thought to himself... I'm nothing like that bird. I'm nothing like anything on the beautiful, blue, Xenaria.
