Many years ago a teacher made a rule that any child who told a lie be punished with six strokes on the hand. Soon a little girl told a lie. She was so tiny that the teacher hated to punish her; but he had to if there was to be order in the school. She cried so hard after the first stroke that he felt he could not go on. He looked over to the boys and asked, "Is there anyone who is willing to take her punishment?" One boy bravely stepped up and took the punishment which belonged to the girl.
God is love but He always does what is right, He must punish sin. He cannot just overlook it. You and I deserve punishment because we are sinners. The Lord Jesus willingly took our punishment when He died on the cross.
