War and Woes

Chapter 8

Piper walked back to the Zeus cabin where Annabeth and Jason were waiting for her. She didn't know what to think, something about Caz seemed so familiar, yet he was to cold and harsh. She had never known anyone like that. She found herself outside the cabin and she pushed the door open silently.

The sight she saw made her so confused she couldn't react. She wanted to cry, she didn't believe it, she was just frozen as she watched her best friend make out with her boyfriend.

"Piper!" They jumped apart. Jason looked terrified and Annabeth looked like she wanted to cry. "It's not what it looks like, i swear." Jason almost shouted.

"Then what is it Jason, because it looks like my best friend and boyfriend were just making out after sending me to do their dirty work since you're both to arrogant and prideful to let the primordial army live in peace."

"Piper come on... we would never do that to you." Annabeth tried to reason. 'Alright then you can be forced to tell me the truth.' She thought.

"What were you doing when i walked in here?" She watched their eyes glaze over with satisfaction.

"I was cheating on you with Annabeth, i love her more than you i just didn't want to hurt your feelings." Jason sounded almost robotic as he answered her question. She choked back a sob.

"How long has this been going on?" She composed herself before using another wave of charm speak.

"Since last time Percy visited with the Generals." Annabeth spoke, it didn't sound like her.

She let the charmspeak wear off and they shook their heads. "Well then i think it is time for this little operation to become a couples only thing, do your own dirty work."

"Did you charmspeak us? Piper you can't just charmspeak us whenever you like!" Annabeth protested.

"Actually i think i can. Here's an example. Jason lay down." He lay down on the marble floor. "Roll over." He rolled over. "I think i can do whatever i wish whenever i wish, Annabeth." The name sounded gross on her tongue.

"Piper please... i can't lose you again." Annabeth sounded desperate and Jason got off the floor.

"Please Pipes, i need you. We both need you." She looked at them both in disgust.

"Well you should have thought about that before your slut side came out Chase. And you sparkey" she used the name as an insult. "Your arrogance knows no bounds does it, Caz had a point. Neither of you deserve to lead this camp. You just have given my cabin some new gossip." She spat at them before storming out ignoring their shouts with tears running down her face.

She didn't notice where she was going until she slammed into someone. She looked up and saw the face of Emmeline, general of Nyx. Emmeline looked down and saw the tears streaking her face and without a moment's hesitation flashed them away in black light.

"Where are we! Why did you bring me here?" Emmeline just sat down on a bed.

"Well this is the first quiet place that i could flash to that i thought of, and you looked like you needed someone to talk to and a quiet place." Piper remained standing. "Sit, not all of us are as crazy as Caz is. He's just damaged and it shows."

"Thank you, but why would you help me? I though pretty much everyone from the Void hated us."

"No actually. Percy hated you guys because you hurt him, Caz hates you guys because you hurt Percy and he was once a demigod here, and i hate Annabeth because she is a snooty bitch. Everyone in the Shining City hate Annabeth."

"Just because she cheated on Percy?" Piper ended up taking off her muddy boots and sitting down next to Emm.

"You don't understand how close of a bond Percy formed with these people. The kids saw him as an older brother because he was always there. The adults saw him as an equal and leader, even another parent figure to their children. When his background was discovered people wanted to come down here and make her pay for hurting their family."

Piper smiled sadly. "That sounds like Percy, everybody loves him."

"Not everybody if you've seen is scars, there are some real devils in this camp. Why do you let them stay?"

"We have to, they are protected by their parents. They are demigods and we can't kick them out." Emm had her legs crossed at the ankles.

"If someone in the army has a big head and their ego is a danger or could be, they are thrown out until next recruitment season, if it's fixed they are allowed back in. Armies don't have places for people like that, everyone must see each other as a equal to fight as one."

"You know a lot about how an army works from the inside. Did you fight in the primordial army before you became a general?" she grimaced before answering.

"I fought in an army yes, but not the primordial army. I was fighting against them, i was being forced to." She pulled up the left side of her shirt revealing a scar that went down her entire side.

"What happened?" Piper asked before quickly covering her mouth not wanting to get skewered by the large spear next to her bed.

"I was probably around 13 and i was being forced to fight for my home planet. I didn't want to fight, i didn't even want to be there. It wasn't a good place, lots of crime and all the money going into all the wars. My family was starving and I taught myself how to fight to prevent our stuff from being stolen. I was taken into the army because i could already fight. First battle i ever fought got this, it was from a boy probably around 20 fighting for the primordials. Once he saw what he had done and realized my age he stopped fighting. He took me to their medic tent and Chaos came personally and offered me a home."

"Thats horrible, no child should have to grow up like that." Piper was appalled.

"It wasn't all bad, i had my sister and parents who i love to the ends of the universe, we were poor but we always would have fun in our little house. They were killed once our leader found out i went to the primordial army. I got to see them one last time thanks to Chaos. My parents told me they would gladly die to give me a better future, but the hard part was Katerina. She was two years older then me and was the last to be killed, i still remember her last words. 'I'm ready to die since my sister can live.'"

Emm whipped away a tear. Piper put a hand on her shoulder. "They would be proud of who you've become. Your strong and an amazing fighter. You managed to become a general and be blessed by one of the oldest primorials. You shouldn't feel guilty because of their sacrifice, you should embrace it and go into every battle and fight as a tribute to them."

Emm laughed. "Oh Chaos look at me, i flashed you here to figure out why you were crying and here i am spilling out my entire life story to a stranger." She dried her eyes and turned to Piper.

"Now why were you crying?"

A.N. I tried i really did to not give Emmeline a sad back story but i couldnt help it, it was to good of an idea to pass up. i just needed to get some piper in here because shes a badass.
