Life is always so full of surprises. Some are good and some are bad.

Depending on a particular circumstance, (an unexpected birthday party) a surprise is determined good, however, under an entirely different scenario, (the sudden death of a loved one) a surprise is determined as bad. Hence why some people like surprises and others don't.

The surprise you've been slapped in the face with is pregnancy.

At the ripe age of 20, this is something you never expected to happen...but, then again, maybe you did, after all, you woke up beside a sleeping angel, who was as naked as you were, in the same bed.

Instantly, you remembered everything from the night before: his seductive gaze, his warm breath, his sweet words and silky voice - he was far too tempting to resist. He wasn't always like that and seemed like a completely different person that night, but you gave yourself no room to complain.

His name was Park Jimin. He was your sweet college mate and was the cause for your most unpleasant surprise.

Hoping that it would stay a one night stand and nothing more (in spite of how ridiculously handsome he was), you hurridly made your way back home. Just before you set off, you made sure that your best efforts were applied to your appearance so as to avoid stigmatism. Such shame couldn't escape you, however, seeing as you were always one to harbour bad luck and the subsequent wave of morning sickness that consistently targeted you gave way to a sudden realisation.

Soon enough, you were buying multiple pregnancy tests before ending up in your enclosed bathroom, sobbing at the sight of multiple positive symbols. This usually meant the world to a married woman wanting to have kids, but you weren't married and you didn't want kids...not this soon, at least.

What should you do?

You had always wanted to keep your first child and no matter how miserable your circumstance was, you were willing to keep your vow. Keeping the child was easy enough - well...as easy as it could have been when regarding the judgement of others - but Jimin had a right to know that you were having his baby.

This simple intention you possessed was just to notify him of your situation, it was never to force the young man to take up the father role willingly; you're a capable woman and didn't need anyone else's help to atone for your mistake.

Despite your will of getting on with him simply brushing you aside, you secretly hoped that he'd stand by you, not necessarily as a lover either - but you wouldn't complain - just for support.

Surprisingly, contrasting to his usually kind, understanding and caring personality, when you had explained everything to him, with glossed eyes and at his doorstep - which wasn't ideal, you realise - you didn't receive any comfort. No sweet words, no counselling embrace and no caring actions of any kind, instead, you were delivered a door to the face with a resounding SLAM!

"And that's how you ruin a life." you sighed shakily, holding back tears, "Congratulations."

Previous to this, Jimin and you were already fairly good friends, so you picked up on some of his little habits. One subject he would sometimes complain about was never being able to say 'no' when people asked for something and you'd always reassure him that it wasn't consequently a bad thing; it just conveyed how lovely he was as a person.

In the case of your confession, you weren't asking for anything at all but he said no anyway. It wasn't really a verbal denial but if a door to the face wasn't a clear enough sign, then you don't know what is.

This was the first time he ever said 'no' to anyone and you congratulated him with painfully whispered sarcasm.

Dealing with the rest of your life, you become a college dropout, was rejected by your parents and worked whilst pregnant. It was a sad turn in your life but you always whispered to yourself, rubbing at your growing tummy: "It'll be worth it when I see you smile, right baby?".

Thankfully, most of your friends stayed and heartfully offered help whenever and wherever they could, your only response was that you were grateful enough to have them at your side as emotional support, which only urged them to insist on helping further. On the other hand, unable to sacrifice your pride, you continued working for yourself as well as your unborn child, kindly rejecting their offer to help.

Unknowingly, you caught the eye of a particular passer-by-er whilst working at the cafe, one that you thought you'd never see again.

It was Jimin.

To your surprise, he was willing to help, an offer that you were close to tears in hearing as it has been far too long since any good news has greeted you.

Almost two years ago, you were alone and anticipating a baby to care for without a husband or companion of any kind, but now, after many surprises: instant chemistry, a date under precious moonlight, a love more passionate and loving than anything else, the reunion of you and your parents, a diamond ring and a healthy baby boy, you find yourself living a life you've always wanted.

"I thought it was a one-night-stand...and now we're married," your husband laughed softly as you watched your growing boy hobble about on your carpeted floor.

"Well, hows that for a surprising turn of events?" you chimed, interlacing your hands as you cuddled up against him.

"The most pleasant surprise of my life."

Surprises are always either bad or good, but that doesn't mean they stay that way. A good surprise can always turn bad whilst a bad surprise can always turn good.

You're thankful and happy that your unfortunate surprise was the latter.
