*flashback*
Flame Prince smirked. "Sorry Fionna, but you're just not my type. You're too...fragile. And you refuse to take our relationship to the next level. Do you know how embarrassing that is for me? Sorry, but Flare's just so much better than you."
Flare gave Fionna a smug smile before she crashed her lips onto his. Pulling apart, Flame Prince sighed, before he turned and left Fionna standing there in disbelief.
She turned and ran through the forest, slashing through everything that got in her way. Seeing a clearing up ahead, Fionna collapsed on the ground, sobbing. As the emotional stress took its toll on her, sleep pulled her under.
*end flashback*
Fionna sat up with a gasp. Running a hand through her hair, she sighed and hopped out of bed. Three days after Flame Prince dumped her, and she was still dreaming about it.
"Hey," Marshall's deep voice rang across the room. "Do ya want something to eat?"
"Can I just have some water?" Fionna asked, her voice cracking.
He smiled. "Sure."
She sighed as Marshall flew out of the room, and curled up in his bed. It was so much softer than his couch. Fionna appreciated the vampire’s friendship. He was always there when she needed him. After all, he had found her in the forest, then let her stay at his house until Cake got back from visiting her kittens. Marshall knew that she couldn’t deal with this alone, and Gumball would just try to break her feelings down scientifically.
“Got you that water Fi,” Marshall said as he handed her the glass. She took it gladly and drank.
“Thanks Marshall,” Fionna said quietly.
He smirked. “No need to thank me. Although a kiss would be nice.”
She laughed, sitting up to punch his arm. “Dude, stop with all the flirting biz.”
Marshall just rolled his eyes. “Oh come on Fi. You know you love me.”
Just as Fionna was about to smack him, there was a knock at the door. Marshall stuck his head out the bedroom window.
“Yo! Cat! What’re you doing here?” He called down.
Cake’s voice floated up into the room. “I’m here to see my baby Marshall! Now let me in!” She screeched.
The vampire laughed and shut the window. “Fi, your cat’s really impatient.”
Fionna sighed. “Go get the door before she breaks it.”
Marshall bowed. “Anything for the princess,” he teased before floating down to let Cake in.
“Oh, baby girl! I can’t believe Flame Prince would do that! Next time I see that boy, he’s getting his eyes clawed out!” Cake ran into the room and jumped on the bed. “Marshall told me everything over the phone, although I do not know why that boy waited this long to tell me.”
Marshall shrugged. “I didn’t want to ruin your time with the kittens. It’s not like I would let that a-.” Fiona clamped a hand over Marshall’s mouth.
Fionna glared at him. “No swearing.”
Pulling her hand off of his mouth, Marshall sighed. “Fine. It’s not like I would let that prick near her. Better?”
Fionna narrowed her eyes. “A bit.”
“I mean, all I was going to say was asshat, but I guess that’s a bad word.”
“MARSHALL!”
“Sorry. Not sorry.”
Cake glared at Marshall. “So how are you doing sweetheart? Ya need me to claw FP’s eyes out?”
“She wouldn’t let me throw him in a lake,” Marshall grumbled.
“A lake would kill him. Dump a bucket of water on his head. Now go, I need some time with Fionna.”
“Kill my vibe why don’t you,” Marshall muttered, exiting the room.
Fionna laughed, pushing the fringe out of her face.
”At least I still have my friends,” she thought. ”No one can take them away from me.”
