Jessica tried to mask her
disappointment with her casual
smile.
She didn't get much of the
answer that she was hoping for. All she got from Daniel was the facts that were already known to her.
The fact that Xavier was the only son and his parents died just
before his high school entrance.
His deceased father was
supposed to be the heir to lead
the company.
Since then, Xavier was named
the heir as Daniel wasn't interested in it.
Daniel also said Xavier was his
favourite cousin.
Not that she couldn't guess since
they only had each other becauseDaniel was an only child too. As Daniel was going to the party
too, Jessica immediately agreed
to go with him.
So, that evening, after going
through the same make‐over that she experienced the day she was supposed to pretend as
Xavier' girlfriend, they went to
the company where the party
was held. It wasn't that hard at the party. All she had to do were wore
princess style dress, smiled
like a princess and walked like a princess.
In short, she just had to act like a princess.
Not hard at all.
The problem was she wasn't the princess they thought of.
She was the fake princess.
Jessica grunted after the entire introduction was done.
Suddenly, she realized how hard it would be to marry some
big‐name and important person. The only thing to calm her down was seeing familiar faces such asEmily.
It was such a surprise to see
Emily coming with her own
brother.So, since when did their
relationship progress this far?
"Here, Em," Jessica waved as she saw Emily making her way
towards her after xavier left to talk to some of his clients. Charlie was walking at Emily's
side when Emily suddenly stumbled on her feet.
charlie caught her just in time before she could kiss the floor. "Opss... talk about falling for a
guy," Emily smiled at Charlie while Jessica could only stare with disbelief. "Wow, my best friend and my brother.
I could almost see the
apocalypse coming," Jessica commented, her eyes were glued on their hands that were still clasped together.
charlie grinned. "Well, you are
married. I have to make use of
my take‐a‐chance gene."
His grin stretched across his face. Jessica rolled her eyes.
"Well, if I remember my biology correctly, it's attached to the
doesn't‐want‐to‐lose gene." "Oh, we are still at the friend phase, Jess," Emily's cheeks were crimson red. Now, that was a rare sight. "So, you are really married." Charlie changed he topic. It was as though he was trying to save jessica of the
embarrassment. If he was trying to annoy her with that statement, yes, he did. "Yes, I am married." Jessica only smiled grimly."I really do hope mom could see you in the wedding gown," He blurted out.
Maybe he was thinking about their deceased mother during the wedding ceremony. Frankly, she'd been thinking about their deceased parents too. That's why it didn't shock her as much when Charlie suddenly mentioned their mother. "She should be. She is watching over us. In fact, I had a dream about mom last night." "Oh, how great. What about?" "I was in wedding dress and I was reaching out holding her hand and she was taking me someplace safe..." Jessica trailed off.
She remembered her dream last night. Her mom was taking her to Xavier and she put their hands together while smiling mysteriously.and she put their hands together while smiling mysteriously. Somehow, it felt so safe. She felt protected.
She wasn't sure, whether it was because her mom was there or because her hand was holding him. She was brought back to the reality by Charlie's voice. "I wish I had a dream about mom too." "Mom would have to knock before she can come into your dreams," Jessica smiled teasingly. He grimaced. "Cute."
