------A few weeks later; August 17, 2028------
Taylor's POV
It is the morning of August 17, and Jennifer is scheduled for her induction this morning at 5:00 am. We both woke up at 3:00 am, and we were out the house by 4:00 am. Luckily, the hospital is only 15 minutes away from our place, so it is convenient for us. When we arrived at the hospital, Jennifer decided to go and check in while I tried to find a parking spot. I was able to find one right away and follow after Jennifer. We waited in the waiting room for the nurse to come bring us to our room. A few minutes went by, and our nurse came to bring us to the delivery room. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Caniff, my name is Michelle and I will be your assigned nurse for this morning." The nurse said as she introduced herself. "It's very nice to meet you." Jennifer smiled as we both shook hands with Michelle. "So for now, you can go ahead and put your hospital gown on, and I will come back within 20-30 minutes to get your IV started." Michelle said. Once she left, Jennifer went ahead and put her hospital gown on. Once she was done, she went ahead and laid down on the bed to relax herself before Michelle came back. 20 minutes went by, and Michelle came back with another nurse to help her get Jennifer's IV in.
It didn't take too long for the IV to be put in, it didn't even take 5 minutes, and it was already in. "Ok, now that your IV is in, I'll come back in an hour, so we can start your pitocin." Michelle said as she walked out of the room. 5 minutes after Michelle left, I noticed that Jennifer was starting to look around the room a lot. "Is everything ok?" I asked as I walked over to her bedside. "Yeah I'm fine. I'm just a little nervous as to what is going to happen today." She replied. "Babe, don't worry. Everything will be alright." I smiled as I gave her a kiss on the forehead. After one hour went by, Michelle came back with the gear to get Jennifer ready for the pitocin. While Michelle was putting the pitocin in, I grabbed Jennifer's hand because she was starting to feel tense. After Michelle was done, Jennifer was able to relax a little more. "So now that it is in, you will start feeling some pain within 15-20 minutes." "And if your contractions start to get a little too tense and you're wanting the epidural, just give us a call by pressing that button, and we'll be over as fast as we can." Michelle said. "Thank you Michelle." Jennifer smiled. After 25 minutes went by, I noticed that Jennifer was starting to get into a lot of pain. "Are you ok, Babe?" I asked. "I'm starting to feel the pain now." She replied. "Do you want me to call Michelle?" I asked. "Not yet. I just need someone to talk to about this pain." Jennifer replied. "Who would you like me to call?" I asked. "Umm, try calling Hannah. Maybe she'll answer." Jennifer said. I grabbed my phone and I quickly dialed Hannah.
After 3 rings, she picks up. "Hello?" Hannah answers. "Hannah, it's Taylor. Are you busy right now?" I asked. "Umm, not really. I'm just here at Jenn's parent's house, taking care of things around the house. Why, what's up?" She asked. "Well, Jennifer is asking if you could come here to the hospital." I replied. "Why, what's wrong with my cousin?" Hannah asked. "She's doing ok, but she's in a lot of pain, and she wants you here. And, maybe Cameron too." I said. "Oh my gosh, ok. I'll call Cam and we will be there in about 15-20 minutes. Give me updates on her." Hannah said. "Will do. Thank you so much Hannah." I said. We hung up the call and I went back to attending to Jennifer. "Hannah said she and Cam will be on their way." I told Jennifer. "That's great. Can you call my parents too?" Jennifer said. "I'll call them now." I said as I grabbed my phone to call her parents. After 3 rings, her Dad picks up. "Hey Taylor, what's up?" Dad answered. "Hey Dad, are you and Mom busy right now?" I asked. "Not really. We're just getting ready for the day." He replied. "Well, if you can, could you guys come to the hospital?" I asked. "Why? What's up with Jennifer?" She asked. "Nothing's wrong. She's just in a lot of pain right now. Hannah and Cam should be on their way." I said. "Ohh gosh, ok. Mom and I will be there as soon as possible." Dad replied. After Dad hung up, I continued to stay by Jennifer's side. 25 minutes went by, and we heard a knock on the door. I went over to open the door, and there were Hannah and Cameron standing in the doorway. "Come in, guys." I smiled as they came in while Cameron was holding holding his phone in his hand. Cam set his phone down and Hannah watched the phone for when Mom or Dad call. "How are you feeling Jenn?" Hannah asked. "I'm in a lot of pain right now." She replied. "How far apart are your contractions?" She asked. "They're about 3-4 minutes apart." Jennifer replied.
Jennifer's POV
1-2 hours have gone by, and my pain was starting to get worse. "I think I need the epidural now." I said as I kept moving around. I saw Taylor run around to my bedside and press the button to call Michelle. The nurse answered and Taylor told them that I was ready for the epidural. Not even 10 minutes went by, Michelle came in with the epidural materials and the doctor came in shortly after. They prepared me for the epidural, and everyone stepped out for a few minutes while Taylor stayed with me. After 10 minutes, the epidural was in and my cousin Hannah and my brother Cameron came back inside. I decided that I wanted to take a nap before my doctor comes back to check on me. I took a nap for about 2 hours, which then my doctor came in to check on my progress. "You're almost there, Mrs. Caniff. You're currently at a 9. I'll come back after 25-30 minutes and check again." My doctor smiled as he walked out. Taylor, Hannah, Cam, and I chatted until my doctor came back. This time, my real doctor came in to check on me. "Hello Mrs. Caniff, how are you feeling?" Dr. Anderson greeted me. "I'm feeling a lot better than I was earlier." I replied.
It took 15 minutes for Dr. Anderson to check me. "Good news, Mrs. Caniff. You are now at a 10, so we're going to get ready and start pushing in about 15 minutes." Dr. Anderson smiled. Taylor and I smiled and looked at each other. "You made it, babe. You're almost there." Taylor smiled. "You're almost there, sis. Baby Hadlee is almost here!" Cam smiled. "I know, and I can't wait." I smiled. 15 minutes later, Dr. Anderson came back and the nurses got ready. "Mr. Caniff, if you could stand right by her head and push her head up while she's pushing, that would be great." Dr. Anderson said as Taylor followed his instructions.
------After 1 hour and 30 minutes of pushing------
We heard a loud cry. And there she was! Baby Hadlee Elizabeth was born! "Happy Birthday Baby Girl!" Dr. Anderson smiled as the nurses wiped my daughter clean. I was probably the happiest person on the planet right now. Seeing your daughter being born is such an amazing moment for a mother and a father to experience. I looked over at Taylor and he was starting to tear up. "Who is going to cut the cord?" Dr. Anderson smiled. "Her Daddy will cut her cord." Taylor smiled as he grabbed the surgical clamp to cut the cord. Dr. Anderson then took Baby Hadlee and had the nurses get her cleaned up more. 20 minutes went by, and I was finally able to do skin-to-skin bonding time with my daughter. I did this with Hadlee for about 30 minutes until it was time for her to be wrapped up. After Michelle finished wrapping her up, she handed her straight to Taylor. He held her for the longest time, 1 1/2 hours. After those minutes went by, it was my turn to hold her. "Jenn, she is beautiful. She looks just like Taylor." Hannah smiled. "Thank you Han. She really does look like Taylor. She has all his traits." I smiled. "I can tell, that she's going to be a singer like her Mommy and Daddy, and an actress too." Cam smiled. "I hope that she'll follow in those footsteps." I smiled. "Well, since you're holding her, and Taylor is standing next to you, why don't you guys take your first picture as a family of 4? Auntie and Uncle should be over with Landon is just a little bit." Hannah smiled. "You know what? Han is right. Let's do that!" Taylor smiled as we waited for Mom and Dad to bring Landon. After a few minutes went by, we heard another knock on the door. "Come in!" I shouted. Next thing I knew, I saw my Mom and Dad, with my Dad carrying Landon in his arms. "There's Mama's boy." I smiled as Landon jumped for Taylor's arms. As Taylor grabbed Landon, Taylor came next to me with Landon and we took some family pictures as a new family of 4.
After Cam and Hannah took a few pictures, Taylor and I both chose one that we both really liked. I first posted the picture on Instagram with the caption, *Your son and daughter will hold your hand for a little while, but hold your heart for a lifetime (heart emoji)* I then posted the picture on Twitter with the caption, *She's here, guys! Welcome to the world Hadlee Elizabeth Dallas-Caniff. August 17, 2028. 2:57 pm. 7 lbs 10 ounces. This baby girl stole our hearts the minute she came out (heart emoji)* After a few minutes, Taylor posted our first family picture together on Instagram with the caption, *The greatest thing a father can do for his son & daughter is to love their mother (heart emoji)* 15 minutes after he posted on Instagram, he then posted a special picture that Cam took while he was holding Baby Hadlee. The caption read, *Meet my newest love, Hadlee Elizabeth (heart emoji)*
