Mean girl cliché requested by .
So we all know about the mean girl cliché. It's usually a blonde haired blue eyed girl who wears all Gucci, has cover girl makeup and her body is a perfect hourglass figure. Y'know the stereotypical bully girl.
So the problem with this cliché is that it is overused and it doesn't even have a proper use to it. It's usually just used for the author to make the audience pity their MC and it works if done properly. The issue is that it is always used in the same exact bully method; taunting and overall just being a bitch to be honest. The request was about the history behind the bullying which can be used to actually fix this cliché.
So basically, in most books on wattpad the bullying is never really explained as to why it happens outside of the bully just not liking the MC. Well instead of just having a bitchy character make it so that they have a reason for being like they are and why they bully others around them.
SPOILERS FOR BEAUTIFUL DISASTERS AHEAD IF YOU READ IT!!!
So Lotor is one of the bullies in Beautiful disasters and always goes after Lance and makes him feel like he was worthless. This all stems from his fear of showing others what he's really like; he's gay. He thinks being gay is a bad thing so he picked on the weakest kid he could find in middle school which was also the kid he found himself to be attracted to; Lance. He went after Lance due to his own personal feeling but used Lance's weight as an excuse for it.
If you want to make a bully character, break the stupid stereotypes of it being this overly dramatic blonde girl who just attacks the MC for no apparent reason. Create a story for it maybe like the MC did something to them when they were younger and they've held a grudge ever since then. ALSO DONT MAKE THEM BLONDE. MANY BLONDE PEOPLE ARE KIND.
I really don't have much more to say about this topic because it's just one of the ones where you've got to figure it out on your own you know? If you need me to elaborate on anything in this chapter ask in the comments.
Please comment your suggestions or stuff you'd like to see in the future like my character and mental illness chapters.
Thank you,
