sunlight shown through bubblegum's blinds. she yawned and turned over to her side, covering her face in her pillow. she took in the smell of marceline's shirt she was wearing. she wrapped her arms around herself and absorbed all the heat of her soft, fluffy, blankets. her bed sheets were a shade of pastel pink that matched her skin. it had large cerise pink polka dots and wonderful memories of her time with marceline imbedded in each hem.

"hey bonabelle." bubblegum shot straight up.

"what?" she slurred in a sleepy confusion. once her eyes adjusted to the light, she saw marceline leaning up against her door frame. her long black hair was tied up into a messy bun, and she was wearing a red flannel and black skinny jeans.

"marceline?" she asked.

"yes, sleeping beauty?" she softly chuckled. she walked over to her and took a seat at the end of her bed, leaning forward as if bubblegum's appearance was the most fascinating thing.

"what are you doing here?" she asked, laying her head gently on the backboard of her bed.

"just coming to say hi." marceline smiled. she leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead. bubblegum closed her eyes and only focused on the softness of her lips and the warm feeling inside her. her stomach was in butterflies and she felt as if she'd just had a cup of hot cocoa on a cold day. marceline ran her fingers through the princess' delicate hair, pushing it gently behind her left ear. bubblegum had a soft smile on her face. marceline held out her hand.

"come with me." she asked. bubblegum tilted her head in confusion. "come on, i don't bite." bubblegum took her hand.

"where are we going?" she asked. she had no idea what was to come of this, but she had missed marceline so much it didn't matter.

"anywhere." hand in hand, they left.

"princess? princess?" bubblegum groaned and rolled over. "princess?" she opened her eyes to see peppermint butler standing over her bed. "it's time to wake up." he said as he started to walked out of her room.

"marceline?" she asked before he exited the door. "is marceline here?"

"no. is she supposed to be?"

"oh... no. sorry, it was just a dream."

"i hope it was a good one, your majesty." he said as he left.
