Once we made it to the small meadow where we usually train, I headed to a tree to the far left of the plain. There was a well carved lever on the side of the tree and I pulled it. A wooden training set then came out from the ground. There was a mini arena, punching bags, balance bases, and an obstacle course. Aria and Kaden started training immediately. Tomorrow was supposed to be the day teenage elves prove themselves to be apart of the Elven Army; the Ohtatimearo Trial. I headed over to the sets and started hopping from one balance beam to another on one foot. Then I went over to the punching bags for some quick hits.
I wonder what enemies I'll fight when I'm in the army, I thought.
"You okay?!" Kaden shouted from the obstacle course.
"Yea, you look like that punching back took the slice slice of strawberry pie," Aria added.
I look up at the punching bag and I see it shaking violently in the air. I now realize I was punching the bag too hard in my excitement. I chuckled to myself.
"I'm fine," I said. "I'm just excited about tomorrow."
"Who wouldn't be, it's the biggest test of our lives!" Kaden replied.
I challenged Aria to spar and she accepted. If I was still 13,500 years old, I would have gotten slaughtered by her. Kaden goes for mind tricks and power moves when he attacks, but Aria is another story. She moves like a cat. Fighting with her has helped be adapt to her style, which will definitely give me an edge over the other elves tomorrow.
Aria came at me, but then disappeared. I quickly turned around and there she was, her whip coming towards me. I dodged it just in time hearing the swish of her chain over my head.
"Hey! You almost cut me!" I screamed
"But I didn't," Aria chuckled.
Her magic was a mesmerizing purple, almost like her skin, but I knew better than to be distracted by it. I shot one of my arrows which then split into 12 smaller ones. She used her whip to slash through them. I rolled and shot one regular arrow. She threw out her chain which I countered with my bow. When her whip wrapped around it she pulled it towards her and I let my bow go. She stumbled, which gave me time to take out out my dagger. She dropped her whip and generated 2 knives out of the air. I slashed and she countered, then she slashed and I countered. This went on for a few moments when I went for more advanced moves. She started teleporting so I had to act quick to counter her attacks. I then parried one of her attacks flinging her knives out of her hands. I put my dagger to her abdomen, but she quickly grabbed her whip and positioned it to snap my head off.
"Tie!" Kaden announced.
"Good fight," we both said.
It was after early morning when we all finished sparring each other. Even after that we trained until nightfall.
"Okay guys, good training," I said.
"Yeah," Kaden said. "We should turn in for the night."
"Agreed," Aria replied.
I headed back, going the same way we came. When I got home my mom greeted me with a 'hello.'
"ZELPHAR!" my dad ,Araid, boomed. "You know when you go out without telling us your mom gets worried. I know you can handle it, but Enchil won't accept that you're a man now."
"He's still my baby," my mom,Enchil, said.
"Mom, I can take care of myself," I replied.
"Not to mention he has the legendary Aria Darkclaw and Kaden NightArrow with him 24/7," a voice said sarcastically from the gallery room.
"Shut up," I told my older brother Thalorn. "You're just mad because you know I'm going to be chosen to be a warrior for the Elven Army unlike you, who got chosen for blacksmithing."
"I've made many powerful blades that could easily smite a simple elf such as yourself," Thalorn spat.
Before I could say anything else my dad told me to eat my dinner and go to bed. I knew better than to argue with him and I was way too tired to try. I ate then went to bed. I fell asleep thinking of what tomorrow might bring.
