Take away your things
And go.
You can't take back what you said.
I know.

Blaise clicked the snap icon on his iPhone and took the ritual, pre-concert selfie; then typed in a caption absentmindedly as he clicked on the Instagram app to post the picture and give his fans something to talk about. His mind was elsewhere and he wished to be with his mother in her time of pain as he clicked on  the post button and threw his phone on the couch. He ran his hands through his hair and cursed loudly, anger and sadness radiating off him like steam.

The door clicked open and Marion waltzed in with his pot-belly like he owned the place.

"Everythin' alrigh' son?" He asked, pulling a chair from the make-up table. The fancy wooden chair squeaked loudly as Marion sat ungracefully on it.

"Yeah. I'm good," Blaise answered monotonously and Marion sighed, pushing his pot-belly out as he relaxed into the chair. He ran a hand over his face and sighed yet again.

"I know it's hard, but you gotta perform tonigh' Blaise. Everybody goes through rough patches once in a while but ya shouldn't let em' bring you down. It's hard, but we gotta try son. You gotta try." Marion lectured, a tired and pitiful expression on his chubby face.

"I know, Marion. I know," Blaise sighed and another tear escaped his eye. "It's just so painful knowing when someone you love will die." He said and ground his teeth together to stop the tears from flowing. "And to top it all off, people who know nothing about you and what you're going through always expect you to live up to their stupid expectations!" He said angrily and stood up. "I'm fucking tired of this!" He said and stormed out of the room, banging the door shut as his apple wristwatch blinked a red light.

It was time for the show.

••••••

She stared for minutes, mouth agape at the wondrous beauty on stage. Screams and shrieks erupted all around Kayla but they were like dull sounds to her ears. Her ears were un-hearing and her eyes were unseeing to everything around her. Everything except the greek-god on stage. His bewitching voice filled her ears and his perfect physique filled her vision. Small crystal drops of liquid fell from her eyes as she swayed to the sound of his voice, oblivious to the whole world around her.

She was finally seeing and hearing her hero perform.

She smiled and sang along with him, her voice and his voice forming a wonderful harmony in her head. Nothing could pull her out of that state of bliss. In that moment, she was away from her mother's hate, away from her never-present father, away from her friendless life, away from all the never-forgotten highschool bullying and away from the cancer slowly eating away her life.

She cried, but they were not tears of pain. They were tears of bliss and fulfillment. Even if she died tonight, she would die a happy woman, she thought.

****:::

Oh, if you ever feel like you're not worth it.

If you ever feel like you're falling falling falling doooown!

Just remember, that I'm here for you.

Oh, I'll always be here.

For you.

The song ended on a soft note and Kayla travelled back to reality, noticing the screams all around her. She was startled at first, but then she relaxed and smiled as she wrapped her arms around herself. Blaise waved and whistled, causing the crowd to go crazy and Kayla saw it again.

The tear streaks.

They were even more evident than in the picture and she felt crazy that other people didn't notice it. Maybe she was going crazy, she thought but even his body expression wasn't screaming happy. She wondered what could be wrong and her eyebrows contracted in a frown as worry invaded her mind.

She watched the way he moved and spoke to the crowd about how happy and grateful he was that they all supported him so much but she kept having a strange feeling like everything he was saying was rehearsed and she didn't like it one bit.

The crowd went crazy again as Blaise turned back and took a selfie with them. He then started shaking everyone at the front row and Kayla just stood rooted to the ground. Her heart went into overdrive as his face was clearer up close. He shook people and the girls couldn't stop screaming.

Then it was her turn.

He stood in front of her, hand outstretched with a heart-melting fake smile on his face and her frown deepened. No. She didn't want a fake and forced smile from him. Her eyes travelled over his tanned face, his soft plump lips, his chiseled jawline, his perfect nose and then his eyes. His clear grey eyes that didn't look contact-clad stared back at her, different undecipherable emotions swimming through them and she shivered slightly. She didn't know what came over her as her eyes landed on the tear streaks. There was no doubt he'd been crying. It was clear and she wasn't going crazy.

"What's wrong?" She mouthed, the screams drowning out her voice. She watched as Blaise's fake smile morphed into pure surprise, but then he quickly masked it with his fake smile and moved on to shake other people.

Something was up, Kayla thought as she balanced her duffel bag on her shoulder and pulled out her phone from her pocket. She swiftly typed in her password and tapped on the Instagram app as she weaved through the crowd and out of the concert.

She scrolled through her feeds untill she found the picture Blaise had posted earlier and she tapped on the comment section and started to type in a comment.

     _@Blaise_Kinley_No.1fan= Why were you crying?

And she clicked the send button.
