The next day, I walked out of the hotel and I crossed the road, walking into a small café. I walked over to one of the staff members. Her name tag read, 'Tracie', I smiled at her and asked whether they had any job openings. "I don't know, I will ask Lucy, she is the owner."
She replied, I nodded and took a seat at a booth. Tracie walked back to me with two ladies following her. One looked exactly like her, I am guessing that they are twins and there was an older woman with a badge that said Lucy on it.
All three of them sat at the booth with me. "Darling. Nice to meet you, my name is Lucy. I was wondering is there any particular reason why you want to work here?" she asked, her voice was calm and soft.
I smiled at her, "To be perfectly honest, I'm pregnant and looking for work to help me out." I admitted, I didn't want to lie, because that wasn't going to get me anywhere. "Wow. Congratulations. Where are you living at the moment?" she asked. "I am living at the motel over the road." I told them. They all gasped and shook their heads.
"A young pregnant woman cannot live there, that is not safe." Lucy rushed out.
"It is my only option." I whimpered. "No, it isn't. The job is yours. You can live in the empty apartment above the café. Tracie and Macy will help you gather your things and they will take you to your new apartment and they will show you the ropes." Lucy chirped.
I smiled at her and tears filled my eyes, this wasn't going to be hard after all. I has now been a few months since I moved here, I am now five months pregnant.
Using my new ID, I got registered with a GP and a midwife. I have not told Lucy or the others about my life as a gang member, I just told them that I got involved with the wrong people and I left the father because he doesn't know about the child and I intend to keep it that way.
Thankfully, they never asked anything more about my former life. I loved working as a waitress, everyone was extremely kind to me and I love that. I thought about Ryder and Alex often. I really missed them.
I don't know the sex of my baby, I wanted it to be a surprise. Now, I am at nine months of my pregnancy.
