11th March 2001

First and second period was over so he headed out to the cafeteria. He didn't feel like eating today. Actually, the truth is, he hadn't really felt like eating. Not lately anyway. Sam was basically in shock when he said he didn't want any pie. "Oh, what!" He got lost in his thoughts and ran into- it was the trench coat kid, "hey-uh I'm sorry about before, I was- "

"It's okay, don't worry about it, I get it all the time." Dean walked off and sat at an empty table trying to figure out why he actually liked this kid. Maybe we could be friends. Getting lost in his thoughts again he looked up, "could I- sit here?" The trench coat kid hesitated.

"Yeah, go for it. We, got off to a bad start, I'm sorry about that" Apologising had never been something Dean did very well, he had a lump in his throat and was preparing himself to be screamed at. Instead the kid took a seat next to him and put his hand out,

"I'm Castiel" he sat in silence waiting for a reply. Dean stared at his hand for a couple lingering seconds and didn't want anything to do with it anymore. "Dean." He mumbled and turned to face the table. "Are you going to get anything to eat Dean?" Castiel questioned.

"Look, just because I said you could sit here doesn't mean you can start asking me questions!" He stormed off.

Dean rushed out of the front gates, headed to where he usually goes when he is confused. "Mum, I really need some help right now, I don't know what's happening. I just want it to be over." He knelt down and clutched his knees to his chest, he heard a voice behind him and tried to cover up the fact that he'd been crying.

"Dean, are you okay?"

"Dammit Cas! I'm fine!" he remarked brushing himself off, although his voice slightly faltered. Cas took a seat next to him.

"Dean, what's wrong?" he asked, more confidently than he should have.

"I'm not about to tell you anything! Just leave me alone!" he snapped.

"You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to, I'm only trying to help."

"I'm just sick of moving around a lot, okay Cas! I'm fine!" he croaked, shoving his hands back into his pockets."

"Dean, you don't have to go through this alone."

"Look! I barely know anything about you! All I know is that you're a new kid trying to make friends. I'm probably not the sort of person you'd wanna make friends with, I'm a burden. Every one of my friends dies!" He'd said too much.

"Dean," Cas started but he'd already taken his stuff and no one was in sight.
