17th March 2001

Dean drew out the devil's trap underneath the entrance mat of their motel. He had explained to Sam what was happening and he agreed to try and help. He told Cas to 'just come in, my brother knows you're coming. My room is second to the right.'

He put his silver blade in his belt buckle and waited for Cas to arrive. He heard 3 soft knocks at the door and, as instructed to do so, Sam opened the door. Dean sat silently next to the doorway of his room, preparing to jump Cas, if he gets past the trap, when he walks past. He listened to his footsteps and heard him reach his doorway. Dean jumped out from around the corner and raised the blade to his throat while pushing him against the wall. He saw Sam come around the corner with Dad's book, trying to figure out what he was. "What are you?" Dean screeched, straightening up his posture.

"Dean, I think we should talk about this without the weapons." He glanced at Dean and the blade that was being held against him, then averted his gaze back to the floor.

"Nuh-uh, not until you tell me what you are." Dean pushed the blade harder against his skin.

"Dean, that isn't going to hurt me."

"Then what are you!" he demanded more than questioned

"I-I'm an-I'm an angel, an angel of the lord." Cas choked. At this point Dean couldn't help but to burst into laughter. "What's so funny?"

"Yea, an angel. Believable." Cas looked hurt but he didn't know what to do.

"Dean, I'm serious."

"And I should believe this why?" he started arrogantly "Sam, is there anything in Dad's book about 'angels'"

"No, but Dean, I think you're being a little harsh, just give him a chance to explain himself." Sam looked over and motioned for Cas to talk.

"Thank you, Sam. I was, an angel of the lord. But, I rebelled so I have been sent here- to live on Earth. I didn't get my grace taken away so I still have most of my power. I am out of contact with heaven. I'm sorry I lied to you Dean, it's just- "

"Don't worry about it Cas. I have no idea what half that stuff you just said means so maybe you should just go home." Cas looked Dean in the eyes like he wanted to say something, Dean couldn't handle staring into the angels hurt eyes and looked away. He heard a gust of wind and Cas was gone.
