"MA!!!!!"
"Yes darling?"
"Well...Good morning" I half smile at her gorgeous face lined with wrinkles and greyish curls shaping her face. Her gentle fingers lingered over the white marble bench with a book in the other hand. Pride and prejudice.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes Ma, just excited!" I blurt out, god how was I going to cover that up. My breathe feels uneasy as she looks up into my eyes with her dark, intense, hazel eyes.
"Excited for what?" Her eyebrow rises intimidating my central nervous system causing my knees wobble, I could lie but to Ma it was extremely difficult to conceal the sudden nerves and uncomfortable shifts from one foot to another that she'd memorised over time
"Um.. arhmmm.. school."
"You've never been excited about school work..."
"Well, you see, I, am excited, as... I have, ah, fun work today!" She begins to cock her head to the side but the door knocks, the large booming echoing through the small house running into my blood. I stiffen a little, something was trigged in my mind like it was trapped in the left corner of my brain but as usual i pushed it away.If Zach had shown up to my house this early he would be dead and I wouldn't even be the one to kill him, Ma would be. The footsteps push through the walls towards the door, Ma swinging the door wide open.
"Oh hello, who are you?" I could feel the literal colour drain out of my face, why did I let him walk me home. I knew he was daring since I had met him.
"Just dropping off a letter from a friend to Abigail." The voice was different, it wasn't what I had remembered of his tone the sudden hush but strongly accented speech. I glimpse down the corridor to see the blonde haired, skinny and tall friend of Zach's smiling at Ma. Why was he even here? I could see his eyes drift from Ma to inside the house then to me, he winks at me making me crash into the cupboard.
"ABORT MISSION, ABORT MISSIONNN-" I whispered to myself trying to dash away running into the couch. Why was I so uncoordinated in dangerous situation.
"Abigail?" Ma's stern-ish voice sends shivers up my spine and making my ears prick
"Yes..?"
"Someone's at the door for you-"
"Oh no it's okay Mrs... um Abigail's mother-"
"Ma." she snaps politely
"Oh, I was just dropping off the letter, I need to get to something. Lovely meeting you" my expression didn't move, since when were guys like this. Mabel told me they were really big jerks. Didn't seem like it... She said the hot ones were usually jerks and could toss you around like a bag of marbles. Of course I had met guys, I had met Jared but I never actually got to know them unlike this or Jared... Ma closes the door snapping me out of my thoughts. She places the envelope in my hand the soft material between my fingers.
"Since when do you get letters hand delivered by boys?" she frowns
"Since a minute ago." She huffs, a smile pulling at the edges of her mouth. Beaming my biggest nothing-is-happening-in-my-life smile I go to the couch and sit down ripping the top of the envelope. Words were scribbled over the page;
Dear Abigail,
After our rather interesting interaction and conversation over text yesterday I thought I'd write you a letter, since you wouldn't be expecting it. I sent one of the boys to your door which I remembered after walking you home last night.
