Contrary to popular belief, not everyone has a personal guardian angel. Typically one person in every one-hundred-thousand has a guardian. These people will have a guardian because the angel chose to protect them or because that person will make a great and important change in the world, whether in their own lifetime or at some unspecified point in the future.
A sign that a guardian angel is near is a white feather in your path. Guardian angels do not always come to a person in angelic form - they can look as human as those around you or look like a creature such as a cat or a bird.
On the off-chance that a guardian angel's ward is self-centred or egotistical they are highly unlikely to reveal themselves to the person and will limit protecting them to only life-threatening situations where it's clear that they can't save themselves. Guardian angels, as with humans and other angels, have their own personalities, meaning that the way they act is entirely their own doing. The guardian angels in a higher choir have the ability to turn into an animal without the power input of Deity.
All angels are unphased by a human's genitalia, thus the gender of a person does not dictate the gender of the guardian angel. Some guardians have been with their human since birth, others have been with their human since a random point in their life, either way, it's extremely likely that you have been seen naked by them at least twice (not that they really care.) That being said, you don't have to feel self-conscious when going about your daily life if you have a guardian - unless, of course, you are doing something that is quite clearly wrong (such as stealing or rape).
Everyone has a Genius of some sorts, filling in for the position that Guardian Angels fill in for. These guardians are still typically referred to as guardian angels, however, for the simplicity of understanding for the person being told about the 'angel'. This is because of the connotations of angels and because it is incredibly hard to sense if your guardian is an angel or not - unless they tell you explicitly that they are an angel - which typically occurs within your dreams.
FACT: The term "Genius" is singular for the term "Genii", which is a roman guardian spirit that will guard either a human or a home.
