The blue light on my digital clock flashed, "1:32am". Everything was silent except my fingers clicking on my laptop. I glanced at my wrist, in black ink, there was Josh's number. I hadn't called it that day. I didn't want to bother him.  But if I called him now, I'd probably wake him up. Maybe I'd text him. Yeah. I swiped my fingers across the screen, memorizing each number. 'Hi Josh, it's Tyler", and it sent.
I turned to look at my laptop screen, glowing in the rest of the dark room. I chewed on my sweater sleeve anxiously. 'Ding'. I looked back at my phone. "Hi Tyler 👽". It was from Josh. "Aliens?", I replied. Ugh, look at me, over reacting to little things like emojis. I sighed. For a while, my phone said "Josh is typing...", which made me really nervous. I always embarrassed myself. I heard a soft 'click' and a message from Josh popped up. "Yeah. I consider myself like an alien because I feel so distant from this planet and society". I didn't know what to say, so I got distracted watching CrankThatFrank and Dan & Phil on my laptop. I heard another buzz. "Tyler, you still there?". It was Josh of course. "Sorry. Watching youtube XD". He didn't respond. Neither did I. I switched off my laptop and stared at the ceiling. Buzz. I checked my phone. "Hey. Do you, uh, want to like meet up sometime?". Oh wow. Josh wanted to.. meet up? "Sure. Where?" I replied. I bit my nails nervously when he took a while typing. "Come over to my house. My address is 1234 Boie Lane. How does this Saturday sound?". Wow. I've never really been considered "cool" enough to be asked over to someone's house. "That sounds great!". Oh god. Was that too desperate sounding? Awkward much? "Well, talk to you then! Cya👽". Yes!!! This was awesome. And for the first time in years, I actually got decent sleep that night.
