The sun rose over the flower boxes that decked the windows of a large yellow house on top of a small hill. It was late spring, and dew covered the vast patches of grass around the house.
Kim Seokjin opened his eyes. Looking over to his left at his sleeping husband, hair tousled and covered in the intruding sunlight, Jin smiled to himself, pushing the hair away from his partner's face, revealing a peacefully sleeping Kim Namjoon. The two had been married for a solid 6 years, and had adopted five children in that time. Since then, the bright farmhouse the family of seven lived in had seen a lot, good and bad.
Jin stretched and finally was able to get out of bed, moving slowly so Namjoon wouldn't grab Jin and start cuddling his husband while still asleep. Namjoon tended to do that a lot to Jin, not that he minded any.
Jin continued out of the bedroom, which despite the traditional country style, had something you couldn't put your finger on that simply conveyed the message that these two men used the room. Carefully maneuvering his feet around the creaky floorboards of the second floor hallway, Jin finally made it down the small staircase and into the kitchen where he began taking ingredients out for a cake. Today was the eleventh birthday of his eldest adopted son, Yoongi. Jin wanted to throw a big party and have some of Yoongi's friends over, but Yoongi had politely declined and asked for a small party with his family so he could take a nap during the afternoon. Usually Jin wouldn't let him because he didn't want to deal with Yoongi waking his fathers up to play sword fight with him at 2 in the morning, but Jin knew it was his birthday and it was the least he could do for his son.
After a little less than an hour of perfecting the birthday cake to the best of his ability, Jin put his work in the oven and walked into the family living room, grabbing a coupon book off the coffee table, and started tearing out a few coupons for grocery shopping later this week. He started making some obvious progress until he heard a set of light footsteps coming down the stairs and saw the face of one of his six year-old sons, Taehyung.
"Hi Daddy!" Taehyung walked over to his father in his favorite onesie, taking a seat cuddled up to Jin, yawning quietly as he sat down.
"Hi Buttercup, do you want to help me with these?"
"Yeah! I wanna feel imported and help!" Tae looked up at his dad with a big smile. "I know he's trying to say important, but it's just too cute to correct him." Jin thought.
Taehyung always liked helping out with everything because he told everyone that when he grew up he wanted to help people. After being suggested to start now by Namjoon, no one saw an end in sight for the kindergartener's reign of helping anyone and everyone.
"Thank you. Do you see those coupons with the gold stars?"
"Yeah?"
"Daddy only needs those ones."
"Okay! Wait, aren't those Hobi's stickers?"
"Yes, but he won't mind. I always buy him more when I go to the store anyway.
Hobi was another one of Namjoon and Jin's sons. He was 8 years old and the most happy of the children in the family.
"Okay." Taehyung said, starting his work on the coupon book.
The oven's timer started going off and Jin ran into the kitchen to shut it off before anyone else in the house woke up. It was fairly early for many members of the family, even though it was about 8 in the morning.
Jin carefully took the cake out of the oven, placing it on a cooling rack and walked back into the living room where Taehyung was making a smiley face out of the leftover's of Hobi's sticker sheet on the coffee table.
