Tired eyes are the doors
to a tired soul

Millie's pov

I was running, in a field of golden sunflowers, and no matter how much I ran I never seemed to get tired. Looking up at the bright blue sky and I saw a rainbow and smiled. I was happy, but of course faster than it started my happiness ended.

Clouds filled the sky and I became panicked "Millie!" someone (it sounded more like a male) called my name and it echoed throughout the field like I was in some sort of cave. I stopped running, and listened for the voice again.

I spun around in circles looking for the source of the voice but couldn't see through the thick field of bright yellow sunflowers, I felt my body getting heavy. The sunflowers around me died and The sky above me darkened even more so that now I couldn't see anything.

"Help! Help me" I screamed my voice cracking slightly, I was scared.

"Millie!" the voice called again but this time closer, my throat started to close and I couldn't breathe, breath after breath it got harder.

"Help" I squeezed out before falling to the ground on my knees

"Millie" the voice said now right next to my ear, as I let out my last breath.

I shot up from my nightmare and desperately inhaled the city air around me. I looked around the alley way I had fallen asleep in the night before frantically, and quickly picked up my bag I had used as a pillow. I rummaged through it looking for my note book.

When I found it, i looked at the cover that had writing on that spelled 'dream journal'. I took the pen the was attached to the spiral spine, and opened to a blank page

"Sunflowers, rainbow, a voice" I paused as I wrote everything down drawing little pictures to go along with the words

"A male voice" I corrected myself "and lack of air" I finished writing and took a deep breath.

I fell against the brick wall behind me and closed my eyes still sitting on the ground.

"Don't go back to sleep" I said to myself, desperately wanting to.

I opened my tired eyes again and realized I had to get the day started. So I got up and dusted myself off, even though there was no point, I was disgusting.

I looked down the alley way and saw a laundromat

"Hmm, I probably have a quarter or two to spare" I picked my shirt up and smelled it

"Holy fuck, smells like shit" I laughed to myself, I never bothered washing my jeans because I didn't have another pair of pants.

I locked the door of the laundromat bathroom and changed into my other shirt that I had in my bag.

When I walked out I threw the dirty shirt and a couple other undergarments into the washer. I slipped a coin in and looked around the room as the machine started

There was no one else doing laundry

Only a boy who looked a little older then me sitting at the counter reading a book, he looked very, very bored.
