I plotted the curve smoothly on the paper and placed the calculator on my palm for faster & accurate calculation within the same time. James & I were assigned for this project, James put on an excuse & burdened me with it. The project was to be completed within the next three days before the midterm vacation met an end. Shockingly my reference book was vibrating, for a second I was shocked with the thought of earthquake but later I realised my phone beneath the book is vibrating. P'Konpob's named flashed on my screen. I quickly picked it up to discover the reason behind he calling me, as supposedly he was in the party with P'Arthit & others.
"Are you free?"
"Yeah P."
"Can you come to the nearby bar?"
"It'll take me 15 minutes."
"Oh-Okay, hurry up!" He exclaimed.
I was flabbergasted to be honest, I assumed him to be in the party. And now out of nowhere he is asking me to join him in the bar. Something was either definitely wrong or suspiciously awkward. I just put on a sweat pant over my boxers & took the coat to add to my style.
I noticed two gentlemen figure in the far corner of the bar. They were looking exceptional from the rest of the random people in the bar, as they were in suits. I increased my pace when I reached closer to the table & hastily took a seat beside P'Kongpob. When I observed two man from their back I mistaken one to be P'Kongob & the other to be P'Arthit. But the scenario was different when I reached closer. It was P'M. I felt a sudden andrenalline rush. I couldn't behave any more stranger than to take a seat beside P'Kongpob. I don't want him to get any of the wrong idea about us.
P'M was a good guy obviously with some weird qualities that make him an exception from all. He always caused disruption for me, it's like "tom & jerry" fight between us. But in a silent way, you can assume it to be a Cold War.
Otherwise, I don't know what to say about him.
He's cool with me unless he insist me for almost every little thing. That irritates me for sure.
P'Kongpob didn't look well, he looked a bit lost in blue. Though he forced a smile on his face, I just knew it, after all we were brothers for years. He can't hide things from me with his usual acts.
He handed me a glass of whisky which I obediently drank. The raw alcohol pierced my throat causing a burn temptation in my throat. I don't drink often, it was never an addiction.
P'M wasn't looking at me as usual. Not even saying a word. They both seemed so low, I couldn't stop myself from asking what just happened.
"P? Did something happen?"
They both remained silent unless they burst into laughters few seconds later. They had gone insane most probably.
I placed the glass aside, ice cubes still in solid form inside it.
"How was the Party?"I smiled. I guess it was the scariest question I've ever asked. P'M looked hurt and he gestured me to stop.
P'Kongpob behaved a little strange. He didn't look up.
"I'm sorry P, did something happen at the party?" I repeated.
P'M stilled eyed me not to ask anything about the party, I guess.
After the drinking session was over, P'Kongpob blacked out within an instant. I couldn't realise why P'M didn't stop him from drinking. Nor did they say anything to me, I just came on his request and now he blacked out giving me thrills of suspense.
I helped P'M to lift P'Kongpob and place him on the backseat of the car. While I had to sit beside P'M. He didn't utter a word or joked a bit as usual. I kept the reaction within myself. However, I literally wanted to know what happened to them. Hesitantly, I attempted, "Will anyone tell me what just happened?"
"Nothing happened, Kongpob wasn't just feeling well. Hence, we left the party. That's it,"he groaned.
"That's it ? Then why do you look so much in pain," I doubted.
"Uh....P'Arthit.." he hesitated.
"He & P'Arthit didn't have a fight. Did they?" I asked distressfully.
"Yeah, sort of that."
They were so cool together. I hate to even imagine them fighting. And most importantly I can't bear to see my brother in pain.
I felt P'M slightly placed his hands on mine, " Don't worry, it'll be fine," he comforted. I was draped into fathomless uneasiness. But I didn't know why it felt so right. I didn't feel like removing his hand from mine. I looked at him with amazement while he didn't bother to look at me. He was driving, looking straight ahead with a normal nothings-wrong face. I felt a bit coy though, but I didn't mind it anyway. It felt sort of good.
P'M insisted to help me to get at P'Kongpob's flat, but I didn't allow him to. As I was strength full enough to lift him up without the slightest help. On the other hand P's body was burning with temperature. Probably because of high fever. P'M ensured me that he would soon call for a doctor.
P'Kongpob's door keys were not to be found after several attempts. And as he was unconscious, I wasn't left with any other option than to drag him to my condominium with me. It was going to be a tough game to lift him up to there. Apparently, I noticed a SUV screeched to a halt in front of P'Arthit's condominium. I certainly knew he was about to get out of it, as it was his car. Pretending to ignore I avoided to cross him. I was taking a different direction. Albeit of my full proof plan I couldn't get away from his birds eye point of view. He noticed me from very far & started to shout out my name. I acted like I didn't hear until he caught me from the back.
*****
He kept on whining until I allowed him that he could take P with him at his place. I wasn't aware of the consequences, if P wasn't okay about it then I would have been blamed. But I don't really care. I wanted their problem to be solved, even if I shouldn't have done that, I did that. Silly me, huh?
