Zane POV

I couldn't bare to be here at Mom's grave, she shouldn't have died. She was murdered and there was nothing I could do about it. I saw my brothers with tears streaming down their faces and I could feel them running down my face too. Everyone was dressed in black looking down at the ground not knowing what to say to her children.
When I got home I went to my room and locked my door. I stood in front of my mirror and poked at my ears and tail. My cat ears wiggled in the air and my tail hung low. No one knows I'm a Meifwa, no one. Not even Mom who was a meifwa herself. It was so uncomfortable to hide me ears and tail like that but I had to. My tail and ears were black with baby blue tips matching my eye. The inside of my ears were a grayish peach. Was I really going to hide what I am forever? Just then I heard a knock at my door. I quickly tucked my ears and tail in and opened the door.
"Hey Aph," my voice trailed off.
"Hey Zane, are you OK?" Aphmau looked concerned.
I shook my head ngroggy n't it obvious that I wasn't OK?
"Well I wanted to know if you wanted to go to the winter A-Con, not a lot of people can make it because of the holidays coming up but I figured I'd ask," Aphmau looked down, not knowing if it was to soon to say something about my mom.
"Sure, I'll go," I grabbed the ticket from Aphmau's hand.
"Really?" Aphmau looked up at me.
"It's in a month, I should be OK by then," I closed the door on Aphmau and plopped on my bed. I untucked my ears again after I heard the front door shut. I was so exhausted from crying all day that I decided to go to bed early.
The next morning I woke up and looked at my groggy self. I head downstairs where Garroth was making pancakes.
"Hey Garroth," I could here the sizzle of the pan so clear. Wait, why did I hear it so clear? I patted the top of my head. Oh no. I quickly raced off to the bathroom before Garroth could see me.
"Zane you idiot! What if Garroth saw that your ears and tail were out!" I whisper shouted at my reflection as I hid my ears and tail.
Great, now I'm craving milk! Life isn't easy right meow, I mean now.
