Nothing lasts, not for ever. Not laughter, not lust, not even life itself. Not for ever. Which is why we make the most of what we have.
Why waste a life in search of an epitaph?
'Fondly Remembered'. Who other than a half-wit has that chiselled above his head? It is nothing but sentimental incontinence. Let's face facts, life is a zero-sum game and politics is how we decide who wins, who loses. And whether we like it or not, we are all players.
'Respected by All Who Knew Him'. Another monumental whimper. Not for my gravestone. It's not respect but fear that motivates a man; that's how empires are built and revolutions begin. It is the secret of great men. When a man is afraid you will crush him, utterly destroy him, his respect will always follow. Base fear is intoxicating, overwhelming, liberating. Always stronger than respect.
Always.

Niente dura per sempre. Mai. Né il riso, né la lussuria, neanche la vita stessa. Mai. Per questo dobbiamo sfruttare al massimo quello che abbiamo.
Per ché sprecatela vita inseguendo un epitaffio? "Lo ricordano con affetto...". Solo un imbecille merita di ritrovarsi una frase simile sulla testa. Pura incontinenza sentimentale. Guardiamo ai fatti: la vita è un gioco che finisce sempre a punteggio zero, e la politica è il nostro modo di decidere chi vince e chi perde. E, che ci piaccia o no,siamo tutti giocatori.
"Rispettato da chiunque lo conoscesse". Altra lagna monumentale. Lungi dalla mia lapide. Non è il rispetto, ma la paura, a muovere un uomo; è così che si fondano gli imperi e cominciano le rivoluzioni. È questo il segreto dei grandi. Quando un uomo ha paura lo puoi schiacciare, distruggere completamente, e alla fine otterrai sempre suo rispetto. La vile paura intossica, travolge, sgomina. È sempre più forte del rispetto.
Sempre.
