"Damn" Malli whispers, looking into her mirror. She runs her fingers over the soft fabric of her dress shirt and over her black pants. Her hair let loose and face glass-free. She liked her look and nods to herself proud of what she had put together by herself.

She walks into the hallway and puts on her shoes, grabs her keys and heads out.

She jumps into her rusty Kia and starts the trusty engine.

She turns on the radio, switches stations until she finds a song that she feels comfortable listening to with her windows down.

For it almost being the end of fall it's become quite warm today, she thinks to herself.

As she stops at a red light and looks around her. Somehow things seemed a lot more vibrant and alive to her.

Maybe it was just her weekend of staying up and talking with Sebastian over the phone.

She had surprised herself by calling him saturday evening and just talking with him. They talked and talked about the world and funny stories until almost 3 in the morning.

Driving onto the school's parking lot, she steps out and takes in a heave of fresh air.

She walks up the stairs and heads straight for her locker, taking out her chemistry books and heads to class.

Sitting down at an empty table, she takes out her phone, seeing as she still has five minutes until class starts.

There was a good morning text lighting up on her screen from around 15 minutes ago and she smiles, replying.

She then sees another unread message by Chris and opens it, somehow her smile fading a bit from her lips.

Hi, I overslept, can I get a ride?

Malli looks down at the text and at the time. also 15 minutes ago.

She is quick to reply.

Sorry, didn't see your message till now, I'm already in school.

She puts down her phone, feeling a little bad but decides not to let her mood come down on her.

The teacher walked in with his long brown hair tied in a bun, a sweater vest in brown and a pair of jeans on him.

"Okey class let's start today by..." Malli's phone vibrates on her lap and she looks down at it.

It's fine

Malli sighs out, putting her phone away and concentrating on the teacher talking and showing different things.

About an hour later, the teacher dismisses the class and Malli packs up her stuff. She heads down towards the door and outside of it stands Chris, leaned against a wall.

As Chris notices her friend she smiles a sort of relieved smile.

"Hi." She heaves out, bouncing off the wall and walking with Malli to their lockers.

"Hi, sorry again." Malli apologized silently.

"No it's fine, so what, just missed chemistry, no biggy." Chris waves her hand in a careless manner and opens the red metallic door of her locker, getting out her Math books and looking at Malli, noticing her outfit of the day.

"Good job on the outfit, looks good on you." She compliments. Malli smiles brightly at her friend.

"Thanks, kinda felt like making an effort today." Malli replies, a smile over her lips again.
