I'm taking a run to anywhere. I didn't want to be at home. To many memories of me and Tyshawn. It's starting to rain and I pull my hood over my head as I enter a little café by the Bridge.
I needed the air. I take a seat by a window and I hear someone say, "May I sit here?"
I look up and it's Khalil Williams. A senior. He's captain of the boys track team at a public school somewhere in the city.
"Hey." I say. "Hey Chance. Why are you here?" Khalil asks while taking the seat across from me.
"Here to clear my mind." I say looking into his hazel eyes.
"Don't you go with the two lawyers kid?" He asks. "Not anymore. He decided to cheat so I'm doing me." I say.
"If he decided to cheat he doesn't deserve the princess I'm looking at. Am I right love?" He asks.
Did he just call me love? I like that.
"Yes. Plus how's life at...."
"Jackson? Fine. I been trying four years to earn a scholarship from your school but I guess I'm staying public." He says.
