Who knew four words could change Lyn's world forever.

"W-what?" Lyn stammered.

Naruto felt giddy inside, there he was on one knee in the meadows, asking the love of his life to be with him for as long as they live.

"Will you marry me?" He asks again.

Lyn bit her lip, anxious. She doesn't know what to do..of course she loves Naruto but marriage was a big step.

"Lyn?" Naruto looks up at her, "I can't." she decides.

"What." Naruto's voice cracks

"I'm sorry." Lyn apologies "I just..we're fine the way we are. I don't want to ruin us." Naruto stands up towering over her.

"Why am I not enough?" His blue eyes pierce through her hazel ones, "why is me loving you not enough?"

Tears brim in Lyn's eyes "don't say that. I love you more than anything else and you know it." She murmurs.

The blonde takes a step back leaving distance between them "I'll never be that one good thing for you huh?"

"Stop it." Lyn begs, she could sense what was coming next and she didn't like it one bit.

They're only twenty-three and he wants all of her..fully? Lyn can't handle it.

"I'm sorry I love you, I'm sorry for showing affection and I'm sorry for not being enough." Naruto says.

Though he was enough–he is enough. Lyn knew from personal experience in her family how marriage is.

It left her with a cheating father who left and an unstable drunk mother. She was afraid.

"I'm scared." Lyn blurts out admitting

"Of?"

"Messing up everything I have with you. You're what keeps me going, you're my safe haven a-and if I fuck it up then—"

Naruto takes Lyn into his arms holding her tightly "you won't fuck up anything. I swore that I'll always love you. I want to be with you." Naruto smiles

Lyn gripped his jacket resting her head on his chest "you'll always love me?"

"You're my forever."

Her heart flutters as she takes a deep breath whispering one word:

"Yes."
