When I woke up, I thought I was going to die. I was falling out of the cold water into something else, and the change of pace and scene scared the hell out of me. I hit the murky water below, and I almost went into shock. It was so much warmer than the other water, and there was a lot more room.
As soon as I got free, I swam right down to the bottom in means of hiding. I noticed that there were pebbles here, like at home. It even tasted somewhat the same. Deep down though, I knew I would never be returning, so I kept on hiding in the corner. I could see out of this material, and I noticed these three giant land walkers looking at me. This frightened me even more, so I swam further back until I hit the other side.
There was a decoration in here, it looked like one of the plants we had at home, so I snuggled in close to the base of it, and watched with weary eyes at the land walkers. They were huge, with big head and weird features. My brethren told me that they were friendly and not all land walkers were bad, but I do not trust them at all. I can’t afford too.
This is when the waters flow changed a bit, and I looked up to see what the cause was. There were three other goldfish, but they were a lot bigger than me, and they looked a lot scarier. Every one of them was staring at me, not blowing a single bubble in my direction. I didn’t know what to do, so I just sat there and watched.
Finally one of them introduced me as their leader, and that I had to prove myself in order to swim in their path. They were so threatening I had to comply. I made the mistake of asking if they were goldfish though.
I was shoved against the bottom and all of them looked absolutely disgusted with me. They told me that they’re Japanese Koi, and exotic and lovely breed of fish. I was also told I was nothing but a lowly runt to them, and I’d be eating the scraps along with the catfish.
They left me soon after to wallow in my thoughts. Things seemed so different here, compared to the environment and fish at home. Back home everybody was kind and happy, but here the mood is so different, I think I’m getting whiplash from it all.
I think the best thing for me to do is hide out here until I can think of a plan of action, so I can survive in these conditions, -and not get in the way of the Japanese Koi.
