Toads and Horseshoes

Light started to flood over me, I looked around, I was in my room, how did I get here?  Was it all a dream?  What day is it?

" You're up early!" My mom said

"What happened?" I felt my head

" Well when I got there you were fast asleep and looking very pale, but your friend took good care of you."

" Micah"I whispered, his name felt good but I don't know why...

" Huh?"

" Nothing, where's dad and Ed?"

"Well Ed's in his room with Jackie"

"Ooo Jackie"

" There studying!  Anyways your dad's at work and won't return untill next Friday night..."

"It seems like he doesn't want too."

" Now Ethel that's not fair your father works very hard to give us a good life and he loves you do much you have to know that!" She almost shouts.

" Well I'm sorry that I see the reality in life!"

" Your father misses us and you know he wants to be here!"

" REALLY WAS HE HERE WHEN I HAD SURGERY, WAS HE HERE WHEN YOU WREAKED YOUR CAR, WAS HE HERE WHEN ED WAS CHEATED ON IN HIS OWN HOUSE BY HIS BEST FRIEND!" My mother had tears in her eyes

"Now Ethel please" she said weakly

"No, you have proved your point, my dad is the best father in the whole world!" I said more calm but I was still mad. I slammed the door as she left and texted Cas

" Hey" it took her a few minutes

" What's up"

" had a fight with my mom"

" Ouch! What about if you don't mind me asking?"

" no it was about dad"

" it's okay no worries, what's up with you? "

" Well nothing much... What's up with you and Micah😉?"

" Nothing"

" Mhmmm 😋"

" No for reals"

" Sure"

" Hey at the library something strange happened" I almost sent but I quickly deleted it something told me not to tell her

" we all know you and Micah are hanging out in the library together ❤❤❤❤😉"

" We????? And besides that's called detention and it's all your fault anyway"

" how's it my fault?"

" Nvrmnd. who is "we"?"

" Oh g2g TTYL" I looked up Eddy was standing in my door way, how long has he been there?

" Are you okay?"he asked

" Yeah I'm fine, Where's your Girlfriend?"

"She went home and she's not my girlfriend"

" Sure"

" You really hurt mom"

" I know"

" go apologize to her for the sake of dinner, okay?"

" Okay" I walked down stairs to see mom of course beating up dinner she saw me her eyes fresh with tears

" I'm sorry" she beat me to it

" No I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that"

"No you're right to feel like he's neglecting you"

We just hugged for the whole 10 minutes seems like a perfect end to a cheesy movie but this was no end.

Me and Micah kept meeting up after school in the library trying to figure out what happened and he told me something I wasn't exactly expecting

"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean you are the only one who can go through the books"

" I found more and a book that can explain the symbols!"

"How long have you been here"

" I come here every time I have some free time!"

"Look this book is called Toads and Horseshoes"

We spent the rest f the time analyzing the books and figuring out why I was the only one who could travel through the books.
