Grey skies

Micah caught up to me as I was walking through the hall.

"Ethel I figured it out!  Its been starring at us this whole time"

"What?" I asked

"The fact that you can go into those books, you belong there!  But does that mean you can go in other books?"

" I don't know maybe."

"Are you okay?"

" Yeah I'm fine I just, nevermind"

" No tell me."

" It's nothing" I snapped "sorry let's just go to the library"

" Ummm I don't think we can, we still have school.  Sorry."

" It's fine, I forgot, I don't think I can meet at the library anyway..." I wanted to say more but nothing came out.

The grey skies were sickening, as I walked around the parking lot, she should be here by now, right? I thought as I checked the time yeah she should, a small blue Jeep pulls up in front of me really fast, to fast.

" Get in "the driver also known as my brother said.

" I'm coming, I'm coming," I said as I pulled the door shut.

"Not so hard"he rubbed his car "I thought you would be hanging out with what's his face"

" Nah, can we go to McDonald's for chocolate milkshakes?"

" If I'm paying we're getting fries too!"

"Fair enough." I laughed

When we got there we ordered our food and sat in the car and talked, I wanted to savor the moment knowing that it would probably never happen again

"So what's up with you and Jackie?" I teased

"Oh, we're going out"he said sarcastically

" REALLY?" I joked

"We're just friends "

" Sure" I rolled my eyes and smiled, he hit me and the fries got dumped on to my lap " HEY"

" Is for horses"he picked up one of the fries

"Real' mature, Real' mature" I laughed eating one of the fries, he checked the time

" Holy sh*t!  Mom's going to kill us!"

" Why?"

" Her party."

" Darn it, how could I forget, when is it?"

" In less than 10 minutes, mom sent us 67 messages!"

" Well we're screwed."

" Storms a coming"

"And not just mom" I pointed to the grey skies

"Where have you two been!" Mom demanded answers

" Traffic" Ed says blandly and tries to push past mom but she catches him, what's up with everyone, not putting emphasis in their words, makes me disgusted.

" It's not even rush hour yet, so do you really expect me to believe that you were caught in traffic?" We shrugs his shoulders "The black and white party is in 3 minutes and your not even ready! You never helped me!"

" Well it seems like you managed!"he points around the room at the decorations.

"That's not the point!"
