The thing about inviting over another royal family for dinner was that a lot of work always needed to be done. The servants worked endlessly cleaning and repairing and Mrs. Tomlinson had to create new dresses for the queen. No one in the castle had free time and all Harry's free time he spent with Louis.
Louis seemed to wipe away the tired frown on Harry's face with just a look and he could make Harry feel alive and awake with just a simple kiss. The whole week seemed to be filled with secret glances and stolen kisses.
Today was the day though. Today Princess Vanessa and her parents would arrive and spend the evening talking about the future. They will all sit and talk about a future Harry does not want and in no way needs. Harry's frown deepens as he thinks about the events to play out and he feels a sudden sickness in his stomach.
"Harry, your mother told me to come get you," Louis speaks from the doorway. Harry turns and sees Louis is dressed more formally than normal. His hair is more tamed and styled and his outfit more clean and rich looking.
"You look good," Harry compliments, ignoring Louis' first statement. Louis smiles and walks into the room, leaning up so he can peck Harry's plump, addictive lips.
"You look perfect as always. Now, come, your mother will be upset if we keep her waiting," Louis ushers him out. Harry does as told and slips ahead of Louis once they're in the hall.
"You will be serving me and Vanessa tonight," Harry tells him. Louis nods -he knows his job. They enter one of the bigger rooms in the castle and Louis can see Harry's parents and the other royal family sitting. He immediately bows and slinks to the wall, watching curiously.
"Harry! I am so happy you invited us over," Princess Vanessa smiles. Harry forces a smile of his own on his face and leans down to kiss her cheek.
"It is my pleasure. I am very happy you could come," Harry replies politely. Louis looks away from the scene, suppressing a laugh at how blatantly Harry just lied.
"Shall we go to the dining room?" Harry's mother asks. The whole room agrees and starts to make their way through the castle. Harry tries to stay in the back - so he can talk to Louis - but Vanessa clings to him.
"This castle is beautiful. I hope one day I will be able to add my special touch," she grins. She links her arm through Harry's and starts to lead him away. Louis watches with narrowed eyes and he can feel an overwhelming amount of jealousy form in the pit of his stomach.
"Maybe one day," Harry tells her and Louis bites his lip hard. He will not let this get to him, he knows Harry is acting.
The arrive in the dining room and again Louis retreats to the wall. Princess Vanessa slides in next to Harry and Louis is very aware of the hand she has on his knee.
"You two look so lovely together," Vanessa's mother coos. Vanessa beams happily and Harry tries his best not to grimace. He can feel Vanessa squeeze his knee and the gesture is so uncomfortable.
"Louis, can you pour me my wine?" Harry asks. Louis walks over and pours the wine quickly. Harry reaches out to grab his glass and let's his fingers graze over Louis' soft skin. Louis makes eye contact with him briefly and he can tell Harry's miserable. He wants to whisk him away so he can cheer him up and love him.
"It must be so tiring trying to find a wife. I remember it took me so long to decide," Vanessa's father speaks up. Harry's father nods in agreement and Harry bites his lip nervously.
"It is not too bad. I have my eyes on someone," Harry admits truthfully. He turns slightly to look at Louis, but the direction he has to turn is towards Vanessa and the whole table erupts in happiness.
