Third person POV
Mitch woke up in the middle of the night with sharp pains shooting through his stomach. He gasps and sits up quickly, groaning in pain, waking Scott up.
"Mitchy? What's wrong?" He asks, immediately wide awake.
"I-it h-hurts, Scotty." He tells him, crying out in pain. Just then, his water breaks. He looks at Scott with wide eyes and Scott jumps out of bed, getting dressed before getting their hospital bag and helping Mitch out of bed. He helps Mitch get dressed and puts the brunettes hair in a small bun, knowing it's better than having it in his face every 5 seconds.
They rush to the car and drive to the hospital where they are showed to a room.
"Ah! I-I c-can't d-do it Scott! It hurts so bad!" Mitch cries. Scott gets out of the chair and gets into the bed with Mitch, pulling him close.
"Shh. I know baby girl, I know." He says, stroking his hair in hopes to distract him a little bit.
"M-make it s-stop." He sobs, gripping Scott's shirt for dear life.
"Close your eyes, lay your head down.
Now it's time to sleep.
May you find great adventure
As you lie and dream,
If you're scared of the darkness,
I will calm your fear.
There's a light in the hallway,
So you know I'm here..." Scott continues to sing until Mitch falls asleep. He sleeps for about an hour and a half until the contractions wake him up again. This time they call for a doctor."We have to do a C-section because you're a male and.. you get the idea. Scott, you're welcome to be in the room but we have to go now. Let's go." He says as they start wheeling Mitch to the O.R. They lay Mitch on the table and get to work.
"You'll be okay, honey. She'll be here soon, I promise." Scott says, holding Mitch's hand. Suddenly, the steady beat of the monitor starts going crazy.
"He's bleeding out. We may only be able to save one. Scott, if it comes down to it, who are we saving?" He doctor asks, still working on making the bleeding stop.
"Save Mitch, please. I can't live without him." Scott says, tears in his eyes as doctors make him go to the waiting room. Three hours later, the doctor finally comes out.
"It was touch and go for a while, but we were able to save them both. Congratulations, you have a beautiful little girl."
"Can I see them?" The doctor nods and leads Scott to Mitch's room where Mitch his holding the baby.
"Thank god you're okay. I was so worried, they told me I had to choose who to save and I thought our baby--" Scott tries not to cry again.
"Hey, Scotty it's okay. We're both doing great. Come here." Mitch tells him, moving over on the bed to make room. Scott sits down next to him and puts an arm around his waist, admiring his beautiful husband and daughter.
"I have to use the bathroom, I can't walk on my own."
"Ok, I'll take her then help you." Scott takes the baby and helps Mitch walk to the bathroom. Mitch grabs the baby as they make their way back to the bed.
"Wait sit down." Mitch tells Scott. He obeys and Mitch sits between his legs, the baby in his arms. Scott wraps his arms around Mitch's, helping to support the little baby child.
Soon, the doctor comes in and tells the pair they can go home today, but Mitch will have to be on bed rest for a week.
"Have you given her a name yet? If you don't mind me asking." The doctor asks them.
"Kaci Scarlett Grassi-Hoying." Mitch tells him. They sign all of the discharge papers and go home.
"I need sleep. Sleep sounds good right now. Am I a bad mother if I sleep right after we get home?" Mitch asks from their bed, while Scott lays Kaci in her crib.
"Of course not, sweetie. You're a fantastic mother. You've been through a lot, I'd be a little concerned if you weren't tired. Go to sleep, I'll take care of her." Scott tells Mitch, kissing his head.
"M'kay. I love you, Scotty."
"I love you, Mitchy." Scott takes Kaci out of her crib and turns out the lights before going to the living room.
"Hi Kaci, I'm your daddy and that was your Momma. He's pretty tired though so we're going to let him sleep or else he won't be happy. You see that thing? That's Wyatt, he's our kitty. You'll love him when you're older, he's a real sweetheart." Scott talks to the baby as he stands in the living room, rocking back and forth. Little did he know, Mitch heard everything he was saying and couldn't stop smiling.
A few hours later, Mitch wakes up from his nap and calls for Scott.
"Hey honey. How you feeling?" Scott asks.
"I'm feeling alright. Where's my baby, I wanna see her cute face." Mitch says, looking around.
"She's in her crib in the living room. I'll bring you to her." Scott picks Mitch up and sits him gently on the couch before getting Kaci and handing her to Mitch. They both just watched their little girl. She had Scott's bright blue eyes, and Mitch's dark brown hair.
"I love you, Scott." Mitch states out of nowhere.
"I love you Mitch. And we love you Baby Grassi-Hoying."
