TW: SCHOOL SHOOTING!
Third person POV
It was third period when it happened. They were in chemistry, doing a lab.
"Mitch I swear to God if you touch my beaker one more time." (And he did! So I took my shotgun.. someone please get that sf ref) Scott said, laughing.
"Ok I've touched it like twice so calm your shit." Mitch defended, also laughing. Currently, they were trying to make a volcano erupt because their teacher told them they could while everyone else did paperwork. Scott and Mitch got their stuff done the night before.
"It says we need to mix that with this then uncover the other stuff." Mitch said, pointing to each item.
"Wow, so specific. My boyfriend deserves an award for best at explaining directions!" Scott announces to the empty lab room, laughing when Mitch slaps his arm. They were the only two in the lab room, as the teacher and other students were in the normal class. The boys were straight A students and never got in trouble, so they were trusted to be alone.
"Shut up. You love me and you know it." Mitch states, looking up at Scott.
"Yes I do." Scott says, leaning down to peck his lips. Just as Mitch is about to say something, the speaker turns on.
"Everyone, there is a shooter in this building. I repeat, there's a shooter in the building. Your teachers will give you instruction on what to do, right now he's in the E-Wing on the second floor." The secretary tells the school. Mitch freezes in his place, his breathing picking up immediately.
"Sc-Scotty what d-do we do? W-we don't have a t-teacher." Mitch asks, hearing a gunshot. He starts to cry and his body starts to shake.
"It's ok, baby girl. We'll be ok, but I need you to listen to me. He could be coming in this direction, so what I want you to do is take your belt and tie it at the top of the door so he can't get it open. Can you do that for me?" Scott says, seemingly very calm. Mitch nods and goes to do what Scott told him before pulling the blind down on the door window. Both the boys proceed to stack all of the stools in front of the door and make it look like no one was in there by putting the stuff in the sink in the back of the room. They hear the gunshots getting closer and the speaker comes on again.
"The shooter is now in the D-Wing of the second floor." Mitch's eyes widened and he looked at Scott. Scott grabbed his hand, turned off the lights, and pulled Mitch into a closet with him.
"Mitchy, look at me. We're going to be ok. If he can't open the door on his first try, he will give up quickly and go somewhere else. But if, God forbid, he gets in, I need you to be completely silent. The closet is locked, so we should be safe either way." Scott reassures the smaller boy, who is having a panic attack.
"I l-love y-you Scotty." Mitch tells him, burying his face in the tall blonde's chest, feeling two strong arms wrap around him and pull him closer.
"I love you too, princess. We'll be ok." They hear another shot followed by screams that sound like they're in the room Scott and Mitch would've been in if they hadn't been doing the lab. This only makes Mitch shake more and grip onto Scott's shirt harder, causing Scott to kiss his forehead hold him tighter, in hopes it'll help him stop shaking. Suddenly, they hear someone trying to open their door, but the belt snaps and the shooter knocks down the stools that were in front of it. The boys hear the footsteps get closer to the closet and the door trying to be open. This sudden action causes Mitch to almost scream but Scott quickly covers his mouth. The brunette looks at his boyfriend, who holds a finger to his mouth, telling him to be quiet. He keeps the hand to Mitch's mouth, even though he nodded. They heard the footsteps start to walk away, and they thought they were safe, until the shooter shot the door of the closet, effectively hitting Mitch. Luckily, he had his mouth covered and Scott holding him up, so the shooter assumed no one was there and left, moving downstairs. Once Scott knew the shooter had moved on, he took them out of the closet and locked the door, as he had done before but the shooter broke the window and unlocked it.
"Oh god, Mitchy." Scott whispers when he sees the hole in Mitch's leg. He checks if there was an exit wound and, fortunately, there was, meaning the bullet went through and through and isn't still in his leg. Scott cleaned the wound before taking his sweatshirt and wrapping it.
"Scotty it hurts." Mitch says, crying even more but now from the pain.
"I know, baby girl. It'll stop soon, I promise." Scott tells him, pulling his small boyfriend into his lap, holding him tight.
"The shooter is in the F-Wing of the first floor." The lady announces.
"Thank God. That means we can go. C'mon, Mitchy. I need you to stand on your good leg for a second." Mitch obeys, holding the table for support.
"Scotty what's going on?" Mitch asks, confused as to what Scott's doing.
"The shooter is on the opposite side of the building, meaning we can quickly leave. I'm going to carry you, so get on my back." Scott bends down so Mitch can get up. Once he's on Scott's back, they start to go outside.
"When we get outside, I need to let go of your legs and you need to let go of my shoulders to put our hands up, otherwise they will think we're suspects. Just wrap you legs tighter and lean forward more so you don't fall. Got it?" Scott explains quietly.
"I got it. I love you." Mitch tells him.
"I love you too, angel." Scott replies. Shortly, they get outside and put their hands up.
"Boys! You weren't told to evacuate. What are you doing here?" A cop asks them.
"My boyfriend got shot and the shooter wasn't near us, so I came outside. Please help him." Scott tells the officer, who points towards the ambulance. Soon, they're in the ambulance going to the hospital so Mitch can get surgery.
"What's your name, age, and who can we call?" The EMT asks Mitch.
"Mitchell Grassi, I'm 16, and my parents; Mike and Nel Grassi." He tells her, reaching for Scott's hand, slightly smiling when he takes it.
"And what's your name? Who can we call for you?" She asks Scott.
"Scott Hoying. My parents; Connie and Rick Hoying."
"Scott do you know if the bullet went straight through?" She asks him. He nods and she smiles. "Good. That means they'll only need to clean it and stitch you up." She tells Mitch.
They finally arrive at the hospital and take Mitch into surgery. 3 hours later, they finish and Mitch has his parents, sister, Scott, and Scott's parents sitting in the room with him, waiting for him to wake up, which he does within the hour.
"Mitch!" Nel yells when he wakes up. She quickly goes to the bed and hugs him. He hugs back as much as he can.
"We were so worried. Are you ok?" She asks him, tearing up. He shakes his head but tells her he doesn't want to talk about it. Just then, the doctor comes in and tells Mitch he can go home, but he has to be on bed rest. They sign the discharge papers and go home.
"Scott, do you want to stay with Mitch or go home?" Connie asks. He chooses the first option and Nel invites the Hoying parents over, too.
A/N: Sorry that's an awkward ending! It was getting very long, but I'm making a part two!
