I heard it then men moving towards another boat. "So where is he taking this time?" the man asked his friend. "I think found something in Egypt hell I don't know what goes on half the time on his mind." He said.
I cannot be more than happy. If I just know how to sneak in. I saw the persons taking some barrels into the ship. I got an idea I sneak inside one and met with a stack of potatoes. This have to do for now.
"This is heavier than the last one" one man said. "Yes you are right mate" another one replied. "You two hurry up Mr. Rodriguez is a very impatient man" and that shut them up. How much time the journey will take?
I should have calculated the timing before sneaking in. The boat already left the docs. It was night. I decided to come out. Bad idea because hell broke loose.
"Intruder... intruder...intruder" the man shouted firing at me. I quickly dodged the bullet and his behind the pole. The guards filled in and I was at their mercy now. I need to be strong" I thought. I got my mother's sword and dragger with me. "Ok now or never" I thought as everything fell silent. I took out my sword which gleamed in the moonlight. It was wicked and dangerous.
"The young lad wants to fight old fashion ways" one of them laughed. If only you knew you will not be laughing right now buddy.
"Are you afraid of me? I am just a little boy aren't I?" I mocked which was a really bad idea because next thing I know 10 guys are on my trail. I cannot go back or forth unless I want to make rest of the journey by sea itself with fishes as my company. I decided to show them now.
Metal clashed against metal but nothing comes close to my mother's sword. First one went down and then the next one. I stabbed one in the leg with my dagger while blocking the attack. Mother taught me well and for a time my father too. I took one by hitting him hard on head.
Soon they were whimpering and bleeding. More came and I was ready but just then they stopped at the voice of the owner. "What is going on here?" and surprise, surprise he was out with a sword of his own.
Seriously rather than a gun he have sword. "Intruder sir" one of the men said. He looked at the men down and then at me. "You got beaten by a child shame on you" he said. "It isn't a game child" he warned. "I know" I said. And I charged. He was good so good... his motions speak of grace and dangers. He was matching my every move. And just like that my sword was flying out of my hand and land on the ground with light thud.
But it had more damage than that because my cover is blown as my hat goes flying and my bun becomes loose. His cold green eyes met my blue ones. He knows who I am. "Leave immediately everyone of you" he ordered.
And everyone was out of his way. He held me rather roughly and took me inside the cabin he came out from.
"Did you follow me here?" he asked in an icy voice. Anger was radiating off him in waves. "N...No" I said his voice sent chills down my spine his words came back to my mind you should be very, very afraid I am now. Because next thing I know he will be sending me off to the water.
Yes he is that much cruel or so I heard. "What are you doing here little girl forgot your dolls somewhere?" he asked. "This little girl knocked your best guard's not just one but ten." I said. "Then they weren't the best because they got beaten by a little girl" he said.
"I am not a little girl" I said as I tried to reach for my dagger. Bad move. Because I was up against a wall and my own dagger was on my throat. His eyes were dark and calculating. He was watching my every move in my case my breath. The familiar tingles shot my hand. He lowered the dagger. Cut through my shirt.
My corset was visible. "Yes not a little girl" he said as his eyes roam on my body. Why am I not disgusted by his stairs? I don't know. His voice was husky in the end. His breathing was erratic.
Something flashed into his eyes. Something dark, something dangerous. "if you stay on this boat you have to work and dress like a girl not a boy. You will help me in managing the kitchen and not leave the cabin at night. You will stay here with me at my cabin understood" he said. I nodded.
"Get dressed now" he said throwing me my bag. I was glad I put one of my regular dresses. I looked at him who was watching me intently. Does he have to be this handsome? I hate how perfect he is.
Why are you watching me like that? "if you please turn around sir I would like to change. "If you are not afraid and not a little girl why you are afraid to change in front of me" he asked. "Because I am still a lady" I said. "Yes and you are on my boat now change." He said his voice was commanding that shook me to my core.
I turned around and hide behind his desk while I put on my dress quickly only problem is I couldn't able to button my dress properly. I put my discarded cloths in my bag and stand aside. He was at my side as he buttoned it properly.
"Much better" he said. "Sit" he said. I followed. "So why are you on my boat?" he asked. "I just want to go to Egypt" I said. "Little girls aren't allowed to leave home alone not without their father's or husband's" he said though last word came as distaste from his mouth.
"Allowed when they are running away from one" I said. "From your father or husband" he asked. "Fiancé whom I despise greatly" I said. "And going to Egypt will help as?" he asked. "A short getaway trip maybe I will not return after all" I said.
"So you have a Fiancé why you despise him if I may ask?" he said. "Because he treats women like dirt and I will not allow myself tied down to someone who cannot even fend for himself properly" I said. "I see so why Egypt of all the places?" he asked. "I guess I love the mystery" I replied.
"Hmm I don't believe a word you say little girl" he said in his deep voice. It was cunning, it was calculating, UN-trusting, deceiving. "You don't have to believe me Mr. Rodriguez I am just a passenger in your ship and I will pay for my trip.
I will work for you. It only sounds fair to me for not throwing me down of your ship" I said. "so you do recognize me after all?" he said as he pushed my face up keeping fingers under my chin. "Oh yes I do I saw you in newspaper article back home" I said.
"So you can read too interesting" he said. "I am woman with many talents sir" I said rather proudly. "That I can see clearly little girl some of which you might not aware of still" he said his face was dangerously close to mine. "Sleep tomorrow you will resume your duties in kitchen" he said and left me there thinking what exactly happened?
